Forming
1. In this stage there is no group, only a gathering of individuals
2. Each individual tries to define his or her place in the group and seeks to impress
3. Participation is limited as participants get used to the environment, the leader of the group and to each other
4. Group members start to focus on current tasks and discuss their purposes
5. The group starts to set the basic rules which will govern further discussions and actions
Storming
1. This stage is characterized by conflicts within the group and by lack of unity
2. Previously set rules are broken
3. Members can become hostile toward each other and might express their individuality seeking to impose their own agendas
4. High level of friction, broken rules, sporadic arguments
5. If used appropriately, this stage can lead to a more realistic re-evaluation of the objectives, procedures and norms
Norming
1. In this stage conflicts and tensions are alleviated and group cohesion is developed, which leads to setting the norm
2. Group members identify themselves with group and accept each other’s idiosycrasies
3. The feeling of belonging is developed and group unity is sought
4. Harmony becomes more important
Performing
1. This stage is characterized by maturity and maximum productivity
2. It can be reached only if the previous stages have been succesfully followed
3. Members assume different roles in order to perform the group’s tasks; this is possible because they have learned how to related to each other
4. Roles become flexible and functional
5. The group’s energy is directed toward agreed tasks
6. New solutions are found and a new understanding is achieved

2. Membrii grupului se identifică cu grupul şi îşi acceptă unii altora idiosincrasiile
3. Se dezvoltă sentimentul de apartenenţă la grup şi se caută menţinerea unităţii grupului
4. Armonia devine mult mai importantă
Performanţa
1. Această fază se caracterizează de maturitate şi de productivitate maximă
2. Se poate atinge doar dacă s–au parcurs cu succes cele trei faze anterioare
3. Membrii îşi asumă diferite roluri pentru a duce la îndeplinire sarcinile grupului; acum pot face acest lucru pentru că au învăţat cum să se relaţioneze unii la alţii
4. Rolurile devin flexibile şi funcţionale
