I specialize in consumer and business-to-business market research surveys and other business, marketing, or technical translations (industry areas of specialization include information technology, life sciences, biotechnology, and energy).
I have a B.S. from Stanford University, an MBA from the University of Michigan, and significant professional experience in market research (as a project manager and director of market research). Market research translations demand not only linguistic/verbal ability, but a robust understanding of research methodologies and business at a management level in order to preserve research integrity while keeping the end clients' objectives in mind.
I am completely fluent in three languages (English, French, and Spanish) and speak them as a native (with no accent). Due to the fact that my higher education was in the United States, where I have been living for most of my adult life, some may say this is my "native language" for purposes of translation. However, I consider myself to be "native" in all three languages because I was raised trilingual. I grew up in Panama, where I attended international schools. French was spoken at home by my French mother and Spanish by my Panamanian father. What this means for translation is that I have full comprehension of both the source and target languages, which ensures against misinterpretations of the source text. This is particularly important in technical or business translations where accuracy is crucial and misunderstandings costly.
