I have a BA on Translation and Interpreting of the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (Spain). I chose English and French as my first and my second foreign language respectively.

During my course, I focused specially on technical and legal translation.

I spent one year on Ireland with the European Community programme Socrates-Erasmus exchange. I studied at the University of Limerick. During this year, I focused on improving my level of the English language and now I hold the Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English.

Technical translation and software localisation

I have worked on a localisation project managed by Dr. Detlef Reineke. This project involved the localisation of a software called SNAGIT, which is developed to make screen captions. On this project, I had the opportunity to adcquire a deep knowledge of some of the most important localisation and CAT tools: Passolo, Catalyst, Win RC trans, Trados, etc.

I have been a grant holder for a year on the computer room of the Faculty of Translation and Interpreting of the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (Spain), where I had the opportunity to improve my computer skills. Tasks involved where such as: helpdesk, software and hardware support, detection of computer virus and the use and update of specific antivirus software, management of the network environment, etc.

Legal translation

I have passed the modules of my course which access to the appointment of sworn translator given by the Spanish Foreign Office. I have experience on translating legal documents. I usually collaborate with the law firm Gascón Nasarre.

Information search and libraries

I obtained a scholarship of the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria to work on the library of the Humanities campus of the aforesaid university.

I worked with the catalogue of this library, which includes more than 700,000 copies of books, magazines, CDS, DVDS, maps, microfiches, videos, etc.

I become familiar with the UCD (Universal Decimal Classification) and with the numerus currens. I also worked on the creation of bibliographies and contents bulletins.
