Today we have roughly 600M multiplex nodes in cars worldwide. This figure will double in the next 6 years, driven by the ever increasing demand for more electronic control systems in cars. The car is becoming a complex embedded control platform. Networking the various control loops requires a new networking concept beyond the traditional signal-based method. FlexRay is not the first proposal to have a fast, deterministic automotive communication standard, but it has become the most widely accepted.		Translation - Swedish

Man tror att det antalet kommer att fördubblas fram till 2012, eftersom efterfrågan stadigt ökar på elektroniska reglersystem för bilar.
