In Gesichtern können wir zwar nicht wie in einem aufgeschlagenen Buch lesen, aber Gesichtsausdruck und Mimik lassen sich sehr wohl deuten und verstehen. Wichtige Voraussetzungen dafür sind emotionale und kognitive Empathie, die Fähigkeit also, sich in andere Menschen einzufühlen und ihre Gedanken nachzuvollziehen. Im Anschluss an einen einführenden Abschnitt zum Wesen der Empathie, zu ihren Erscheinungsformen und ihrer Relevanz stellen die Autoren den Test “Reading Mind in the Eyes” vor, der sich zur Einschätzung der kognitiven Empathie anhand einer Beurteilung von Gesichtern anbietet. Die Autoren beschreiben Einsatz und Auswertung des Tests mit studentischen Teilnehmern und würdigen ihn als ein Instrument, um insbesondere in Gruppen zu einer anregenden und erhellenden Auseinandersetzung mit dem Phänomen der kognitiven Empathie zu gelangen. | Translation - English
While we cannot read faces like an open book, we can interpret and understand facial expression and gestures. To do so requires emotional and cognitive empathy - the ability to empathize with other people and to understand their thoughts. Following an introductory paragraph regarding the essence of empathy, its forms of appearance and relevance, the authors present the test “Reading Mind in the Eyes.” This testing tool may be used for the evaluation of cognitive empathy on the basis of facial expression. The authors describe the application and evaluation of the test with student participants. They consider it an instrument to arrive in particular in groups at an interesting and enlightened examination of the phenomenon of cognitive empathy. |
