Pablo Picasso es, posiblemente, el artista más grande del siglo XX. Inventor de formas, innovador de técnicas, pintor, grabador, escultor, ceramista... Fue un artista genial en todas sus facetas, fuente inagotable de creatividad que muchos otros siguieron durante décadas y un valor seguro para los inversores y coleccionistas de Arte.
El genio de Picasso se manifiesta muy pronto, incluso antes de tener uso de razón. Su padre era profesor de Bellas Artes y supo ver enseguida el talento innato del pequeño Pablo que, con sólo 10 años, firmaba sus primeras pinturas y con 15 aprobó el examen de ingreso en la Escuela de Bellas Artes de Barcelona.
Su primer viaje a París lo hizo con 19 años recién cumplidos y allí descubrió un ambiente bohemio que lo cautivó desde el primer momento. Tres veces regresó a la capital del Arte en los tres años siguientes, hasta que en 1904 se estableció allí de manera permanente. El joven Picasso asimila en París los planteamientos post impresionistas de Paul Gauguin y los del Simbolismo de la estética Nabis. También Edgar Degas y Toulouse-Lautrec ejercieron sobre él una gran influencia con sus imágenes de cabarés y salones de baile.
Mendigos, alcohólicos, prostitutas y otros seres marginales atraían entonces al artista español cuyas figuras alargadas a la manera de El Greco sobrecogen en obras con fuerte predominio de los tonos azules. El hambre, el frío y la miseria humana quedan retratados con crudeza y una enorme ternura en el color que dio nombre a todo el primer periodo de su carrera artística.

Pablo Picasso è senza dubbio il più grande artista del XX secolo. Inventore di forme, innovatore di tecniche, pittore, incisore, scultore, ceramista… Fu un artista geniale in tutti i suoi aspetti, fonte inesauribile di creatività che in seguito molti altri seguiranno durante decenni, trattandosi di un valore sicuro per gli investitori e collezionisti d’Arte.
La genialità di Picasso si manifesta molto presto, anche prima di avere l’uso della ragione. Suo padre era professore di Belle Arti e seppe vedere subito il talento innato del piccolo Pablo che, a soli 10 anni, firmava le sue prime pitture e ai 15 superò l’esame d’ammissione alla Scuola di Belle Arti di Barcellona.
Il suo primo viaggio a Parigi lo fece a 19 anni appena compiuti e lì scoprì un ambiente bohemio che lo affascinò immediatamente. Nei tre anni successivi ritornò tre volte alla capitale dell’Arte, fino a che, nel 1904, vi si stabilì in modo permanente. Il giovane Picasso interiorizza a Parigi i postulati post impressionisti di Paul Gauguin e quelli del Simbolismo dell’estetica Nabis. Anche Edgar Degas e Toulouse-Lautrec esercitarono su di lui una grande influenza con le loro immagini di cabaret e saloni da ballo.
Mendicanti, alcolisti, prostitute ed altri esseri marginali attraevano allora l’artista spagnolo, le cui figure allungate allo stile di El Greco, presenti in opere dove prevalgono i toni blu, stupiscono ancora oggi. La fame, il freddo e la miseria umana sono ritratti con crudezza e con un’infinita tenerezza nell’uso del colore che successivamente dette il nome a tutto il primo periodo della sua carriera artistica.
