I provide a range of language & language related services including translation, editing, proofreading, language & culture consulting, transcription, website localization.

EXPERIENCE
I have worked professionally as a translator, editor, writer and language consultant for over 12 years in the US, Australia and Vietnam. For the past five years, I have mainly translated and edited Life Sciences documents (with emphasis on Health Plans, Insurance Providers, Healthcare, Clinical Trials and Research Studies) for the Vietnamese immigrants in North America. My areas of specialization also include Business, Market Research, Education, Tourism and Travel, Health and Safety, and Information Technology. Having lived and worked in the US and Australia for a number of years, together with frequent trips abroad continuously enriches my experience in cross-cultural communication.

I also hold lectureship at Hue College of Foreign Languages, Vietnam. I have taught courses in Cross-cultural Communication, Translation Theory & Practice , CAT Tools and Translator's Resources at the undergraduate and graduate levels. I have widely published in the areas of translation and cross-cultural communication. Another article about Vietnamese translation for the North American market has just been published in MultiLingual, the leading magazine in the language industry (http://www.multilingual.com/articleDetail.php?id=1877). A search in Google Scholar (scholar.google.com) for my name "Pham Hoa Hiep" will also help gain access to some of my other publications with Oxford University Press!

QUALIFICATIONS
I am a native speaker of Vietnamese, and have been well trained in translation and linguistics. I hold a BA degree in English and Translation from the University of Hue (Vietnam), an MA in Applied Linguistics (Bilingual Studies) from the University of Massachusetts-Boston (USA), and a Doctorate in Language Education from the University of Melbourne (Australia). I have also obtained Translation certificates in Vietnam. Recently, I have received grants to enrich my knowledge about the translation industry and the training of translators at the University of Monash (Australia, 2009), and the University of Porto (Portugal, 2011).

CAT TOOLS
Although my preferred CAT tool is WordFast, I also work with Trados (SDL Trados 7 Freelance), Trados Studio and Across.
