I specialise in revising English texts that are intended for publication in scientific and technical journals. Working directly with authors to help them perfect the skills necessary for meeting the specifications of scientific publications (whether they be governmental, institutional or international), I deal with first and final drafts intended for submission, and with final versions that have been accepted for publication.

I also assist authors with writing cover letters, reviews, grant proposals, abstracts, conference proceedings and project summaries. While my focus is on language and style editing, in some subjects within the natural sciences, medicine, and computer science, I can comment on the scientific content of a text.

I work with editors and publishers to help them revise contributions, and thereby harmonise their multi-authored volumes, by ensuring the correctness and consistency of texts. Experienced in graphical design, printing, and copyright issues, I am able to assist with reducing the costs of final printing. I also offer translation, proof-reading and copy-editing services.

While the majority of my clients are non native English-speakers, I do work with native speakers, particularly those from Britain and North America.

I provide all potential clients with an estimate of the time required to correct a given text. My fees vary according to the task at hand and are negotiable.

Personal Profile

I studied medical technology for two years and continued to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in biological science from Lake Superior State College, Michigan, USA. I went on to the UK to work in archaeology before returning to school to study computer science. My master's thesis (U York, UK) concerns the conception of a botanical database as a component of a larger knowledgebase. My doctoral research in comparative anatomy was conducted at the Sorbonne and funded through consultancy work as a technical editor for Unesco. I now live in France where I teach at the University of South Brittany.
