Violencia familiar, un drama cotidiano
Una cultura del abuso y la violencia se fue extendiendo en el entramado de la sociedad y fue ganado espacio también en el interior de los hogares. De puertas adentro, entonces, se manifiestan acciones físicas y simbólicas que lesionan la integridad de cónyuges e hijos.
De modo contundente, las mujeres y los chicos son las principales víctimas. Y, además, son las más vulnerables, ya que son colocadas en situaciones de inferioridad y son lesionadas y humilladas en lo corporal y en la consideración moral. Los trastornos económicos, o la falta de capacidad de autonomía, hacen complejo el manejo de la situación, pero el peligro al que se está expuesto obliga a adoptar medidas de preservación.
La Justicia es un camino y, en este sentido, en los últimos doce años se cuadruplicado las denuncias por violencia familiar en el fuero civil. El primer semestre del año en curso fue, según esa estadística, el más violento desde 1995.
Si bien mejoró el dispositivo institucional de contención y ayuda a las víctimas —lo cual se refleja en programas de lucha contra la violencia familiar que existen a nivel nacional, provincial y en la Ciudad—, todavía falta más ayuda material y concientización para que la violencia no quede oculta y en silencio.
El maltrato en el hogar es el resultado de una cultura abusiva y violenta. Las mujeres y los niños son las principales víctimas, y ellas tienen dificultades para enfrentar la situación, ya que aún son insuficientes los caminos de ayuda.

Domestic violence, an everyday nightmare.
Abuse and violence have spread in society structure and homes. So, integrity- damaging, physical and psychological aggression takes place behind closed doors, affecting partners and children.
Overwhelmingly, women and children are the main victims. Also, they are the most vulnerable because they are deemed inferior and hence suffer physical and emotional abuse and humiliation. Economy fluctuations or lack of autonomy complicate matters, but a dangerous situation requires preservation measures.
Justice is one possibility, and in that sense domestic violence civil suits have increased four times in the last twelve years. According to that statistic, this year’s first semester was the most violent since 1995.
Even though institutional support to the victims has increased – a fact reflected in the national and local domestic violence programs – there is still a long way to go as regards financial help and social awareness, so that violence doesn’t remain hidden and silent.
Domestic violence results from an abusive and aggressive culture. Women and children are the main victims, and it is difficult for them to face the situation because current available help is not enough.
