In school, we studied The Twelfth Night in some depth where we examined the significance of the humor and politics as they would have been understood in relation to the year 1602 when the play was first presented, much to my surprise, at the age of fifteen, I found it extremely interesting. However, there is another aspect to be considered here, I had just changed schools as the family had moved to another town and whilst at the first school I had little interest for English Literature, upon changing schools, I clearly also changed teacher, who generated such enthusiasm for the subject that I was able to pass my exams - something not contemplated beforehand. This was due to the capacity of the teacher to communicate just as it is the capacity of this book to present us with that which Shakespeare was communicating in his works. | Translation - Spanish
En el colegio estudiamos The Twelfth Night (Noche de Reyes) con cierta profundidad, examinando la relevancia del humor y la política tal y como se hubieran comprendido en el año 1602 cuando se representó la obra por primera vez; acababa de cambiar de colegio, puesto que mi familia se había mudado a otra ciudad y, aunque en mi primer colegio tenía poco interés por la literatura inglesa, al cambiar de colegio evidentemente también cambié de profesor, y el nuevo generó en mí tanto entusiasmo por la materia que fui capaz de aprobar mis exámenes, algo impensable anteriormente. Esto se debió a la capacidad del profesor para comunicarse, igual que este libro tiene la capacidad de presentarnos exactamente lo que Shakespeare comunicaba en su obra. |
