Source text - English GUARANTEES OF PRIVATE DEBT In addition to XYK’s coverage for equity and equity-related investments, the Bank offers debt-specific guarantee products, including partial guarantees of private debt. By covering risks the market is unable to bear, the Bank's guarantee can open new investment opportunities for businesses. A partial risk guarantee protects lenders against payment defaults arising from nonperformance of sovereign contractual obligations of a project, transfer risks, and certain force majeure events. A partial credit guarantee protects lenders against payment defaults, regardless of the cause, but only for specified debt service obligations and thereby extends maturities. These guarantees support private borrowings for public sector entities as well as support private sector projects, including mobilization of long-term domestic finance. DEBT AND EQUITY FINANCING XYK provides loan and equity finance for private companies operating in emerging economies. XYK offers a wide variety of financial products, providing financing tailored to meet the needs of each enterprise. XYK financing is generally limited to no more than 25 percent of project cost. Loans, with fixed and variable rates in any of the leading currencies, are XYK’s largest product. These loans typically have maturities of eight to twelve years. XYK also provides equity investments based on project needs and anticipated returns. XYK usually retains its equity investments for a period of eight to fifteen years and is considered a long-term investor.
