If timing is tight, visitors to Niagara are probably not going to get beyond exploring the Las Vegas style strip of attractions and activities that are clustered on the Canadian side of the falls. Its epicentre is Clifton Hill, a collection of fast food outlets, souvenir stalls and amusements.
But it's worth remembering that on both sides of the river, within a few miles of here, there are historical forts, scenic trails and museums as well as theme parks and family attractions. Consider driving the Great Niagara Circle Route that integrates four signed scenic tours: The Welland Canals Parkway, the Niagara River Parkway, Lake Erie North Shore Circle Route and the Waterfront Trust Trail.
Many attractions on the Canadian side can be seen on a one-day Adventure Pass. These cost-efficient passes (CAD34.95, adults; CAD21.95, children) include admission to Maid of the Mist, Journey Behind the Falls, and the Butterfly Garden as well as discounts to other attractions and historic sites, and transportation between attractions.
The American version is the Passport to the Falls (USD27.50, adults; USD19.50, children) which offers discounts on Maid of the Mist and attractions such as the Niagara Aquarium, the Cave of the Winds and the Observation Tower.
Maid of the Mist
There really is no better way to experience the power and force of the falls than taking a trip aboard one of the seven Maid of the Mist vessels. Stand along the railings, and be enveloped by the swirling mist and the amazing roar of 600,000 gallons of water per second, plunging over the brink. Be prepared to get wet. You can catch the world-famous ride on either the American or Canadian side. Boardings are every 15 minutes.

Just a few words to introduce myself : I've been working for 17 years in the tourism industry, first for a tour operator and then for a major airline (you can find all the details in the attached CV).
I was based in Paris then moved to the French Riviera and opened the Singapore Airlines sales office at Nice airport.
I worked there as a sales assistant and was in charge of the technical & commercial aspects of the office.
Practising English and translating documents were part of the everyday job.
In 2006, when Singapore Airlines closed down all its regional offices, I decided it was time to make a new start and to make good use of my Master Degree in foreign languages. This is how I became a freelance translator.
My main fields of specialization are the ones I know best: tourism, travel & scuba diving.
