Head lice are bloodsucking insects without wings. They are parasites that feed on human blood. Head lice have ‘specialised’ in living on human heads. The specially shaped body and small oval head ensure that the louse can move easily through the hair on your head. At 20 degrees Celsius, head lice can move at around 30 cm per minute. The higher the temperature, the faster the lice can move. Head lice have six legs, which they can use to attach themselves to the hair. Generally speaking, head lice can be found behind the ears, along the hairline and in the neck, as these areas are warm and dark. Head lice can adapt their colour to the colour of the hair, which makes them difficult to spot. The colour of the louse can vary from sandy-coloured to nearly black. After they have fed on blood they become dark red. Head lice occur most frequently in children aged 5 to 12. | Translation - Swedish
Huvudlöss är blodsugande insekter utan vingar. De är parasiter som livnär sig på mänskligt blod. Huvudlösen har ”specialiserat sig” på att leva på människors huvud. Den speciellt formade kroppen och det smala, ovala huvudet ser till att lusen kan röra sig snabbt genom håret på ditt huvud. Vid 20°C kan huvudlöss röra sig ca 30 cm i minuten. Ju högre temperatur desto snabbare rör sig lössen. Huvudlöss har sex ben som de kan använda för att fästa sig vid håret. Vanligtvis hittas huvudlössen bakom öronen, längs med hårfästet och på nacken. Detta beror på att dessa områden är varma och mörka. Huvudlössen kan anpassa deras färg till hårfärgen vilket gör dem svåra att upptäcka. I was born in Poland 1971. Because my mother married a Swede when I was young I have lived half of my life in Sweden and half in Poland.
I have studied geography and mathematics at the university in Gothenburg, Sweden.
I have been working with home pages, computers and as climbing instructor.
My translation experience comes from working for a Swedish company Swedish Development Advisors (two projects, Polish-English-Swedish).
I have also written two books about climbing in south-west Sweden.
