Reading each colour entry, the information provided from left to right is:
a) Manufacturer’s code
Usually found in the engine compartment.
Locations are shown at the beginning of each motor manufacturer’s listing.
b) Colour name
Usually in the language of the country of origin. Sometimes a manufacturer may use more than one description for a colour. Such alternatives are quoted when appropriate or known. The colour name may, on occasion, be followed by M or P; M indicates that the colour has a metallic finish and P, a pearl finish.
c) Variants (if applicable)
See full details of the identification system used under « Variant Coding ».
d) Years of use
This indicates the year(s) during which a colour was understood to be used on car production. The information should be taken as a guide only as the colour ‘life’ can vary depending on individual countries of origin. Also colours may be reintroduced after a lapse of a year or so.
e) Availability of mixing formulae in the product lines A / B / C
Symbols in the appropriate columns show the category of a formula thus:
* formula available
! complete re-spray only
- formula not available. A match can be requested if required.

a) Le code constructeur
* formule disponible
! peinture complète uniquement
- formule non-disponible.

Background
I started developing my language skills at an early age, growing up in the multilingual town of Hossegor, situated in South West France, an area renowned for its thriving tourism industry and surfing beaches. In my twenties, I travelled through the United States before moving to England, where I have now lived and worked since 1996.
Education
I studied linguistics, literature and translation at the University of Pau (France) between 1988 and 1991. In 2000, I followed a B. Ed. course in French Teaching at Anglia Polytechnic University in Chelmsford, during which I also taught the language in secondary schools.
Work Experience
My first job was for NRJ Pau radio station, as a reporter and interpreter, organizing and conducting interviews of touring international celebrities. I then worked in several sectors (military, governmental and educational) before refining my communication skills in the marketing area. My responsibilities in this field have included translations of international corporate communications such as launch briefs, technical data-sheets, health and safety documents, promotional brochures, presentations and reports.
In 2003, whilst still holding a marketing position for an international company, I became a member of CITS Anglia (Community Interpreting & Translating Services), regularly working on various translating and interpreting assignments for all areas of the community. This involves language support to local councils and governmental departments as well as assistance to minority ethnic groups.
These experiences gave me an initial insight into the fascinating world of linguists and I decided to go freelance in 2006.
