About me
I have been working as a freelance translator / localiser for the last fourteen years, working on projects ranging from the translation of on-line help files to chapters in books and sociological revues. Companies and organisations for which I have worked include ALCATEL, Thomson-CSF, la Chambre de Commerce et d’Industrie de Mende et de la Lozère, ALTRANS, Essilor, Renault, le Ministère de l'Economie et des Finances, KLM, Wanadoo, Hachette, Ubi Soft, BNP-Paribas, L'Oréal, Vivendi, La Brioche Dorée, Disneyland Paris, ATOS ORIGIN, Gunnebo and Chronopost. I have translation experience in the fields of employment law, paper-making, marketing, advertising, telematics, radio communications and microelectronics. A qualified ‘Microsoft Certified Applications Developer’, I consider my expertise to be best suited to the translation of IT-related material. I also have a wide range of HTML editing / localising experience, and have worked extensively with DreamWeaver, Flash, Fireworks and other Macromedia products, as well as Microsoft FrontPage. I am currently using TRADOS Translator’s Workbench with MultiTerm (2007), but have experience of DéjàVu My language-related interests are not, however, restricted to text translation: I have recently completed work on a lexicography project for Ernst Klett Verlag (Stuttgart, Germany), contributing to a French-English English-French dictionary, due for publication at the end of this year, and am currently working on a translation of “0%” by French novelist Franck Ruzé.
