وما أقصد بالقول: "في النفس السورية كل علم وكل فلسفة وكل فن في العالم" ليس أي شيء منساق مع فكرة تصل إلى نفي العقل تقريباً. وليس شيئاً مجارياً لبعض نظريات برقسون تقريباً، أو للمنطق الذي صار في الأخير، من جملة دعائم الحركات التي لها المزايا العمياء من الناحية النفسية، كحركات النقابات التي تقوم على ناحية ليست فلسفية من ال Intuition ولا في الانسياق مع استنتاجات من هذا النوع، تقوم أيضاً وتنتقل في الاتجاهات الروحية القائلة باستقلال الروح عن المادة واستقلال مصدرها المطلق واستمرار العوامل الخفية في كل المقاصد الروحية والتسليم إليها بتنزه عن العقل والقوى العقلية والمنطق العقلي. ولا شيء يذهب مع بعض المدارس الناشئة حديثاً، أي أنه مع الإقرار بوجود العقل والفكر يجب أن يظل الفرد شاعراً بحرية عن العقل والفكر، بل قصدت أن العقل والشعور، أن عمل الإحساس والفكر، هو كل نفسي لا يمكن أن يزال العقل منه، وقصدت أن النفسية السورية قد برهنت وتبرهن اليوم بالبرهان التشريحي والعملي على أنها عظيمة المقدرة مستكملة شروط الوعي الصحيح والإدراك الصحيح وأن لها مقدرة على إدراك واستيعاب كل ما يمكن النفس أن تستوعبه وتدركه في هذا الوجود

What I mean by saying that “…Within the Syrian spirit exist all the sciences, philosophies, and arts of the world,” has nothing to do with the idea that somehow negates the existence of intellect. This explanation is not in tandem with some of (Henri) Bergson’s theories. It is also not an intuition per se. It can not adhere to the logic, which, as of late had become part of the basis for movements that possess blinding attributes from a psychological standpoint, such as unions that are formed on non-philosophical (… missing text) …to go with the flow of such conclusions. It also accentuates spiritual directions, which theorize the independent status of the mind vis-à-vis mater, while it simultaneously emphasizes the autonomy of its absolute source and the continuance of its covert elements in all spiritual aspects thus subduing oneself to it regardless of the intellect, intellectual abilities, and intellectual logic. Furthermore, some newly established schools of thought indicate that even though intellect and thought are important, the individual must somehow possess some freedom in his emotions vis-à-vis his intellect. In other words intellect can not be separated from emotions and feelings. Therefore, what I really meant is that the Syrian spirit has proved and still proves through analytical and pragmatic means, that its abilities are profound and that it possesses the elements of a real awakening and understanding and that it has the capability to comprehend itself in this existence. | Ottoman to English: Ottoman Archival Document

Two days ago, when Agah Effendi, from the Karaaghaj Police Department of Adabazar was returning home at about 1:00 A.M. when the morning prayer was being recited [from the mosque], Avedis, who was taken out of his duties as a police officer and another person, Hovannes, threatened Agah Effendi, who was accompanied by Armenak, still in the police force. Moreover, another person named Manuk-Garabet attacked Armenak with a revolver. Armenak returned fire and during the ensuing incident shoe painter Magar and Krikor Arabian were injured while at their homes. Dear Minister. The incident was dully reported to the Adabazar Mutassarif.
