TAMIL FOR MALAYSIA

This project involves another aspect of translation—called localization—which has to do with tailoring a translation and the language in it to a specific target country or area of the world.
The text to be evaluated has already been translated into Tamil, and ten Malaysian subjects (who must be resident in and native to Malaysia) are needed who can participate in the evaluation of it. Ten people will be put on the list, and from this list five or six people will be chosen based on age, gender, geographic location and level of formal education. If a person does not participate this time around, there will always be the chance to take part in a future project.
We need a mix of both men and women and a range of ages. The only requirement is that a person be at least 18 years old.
Since the survey to be evaluated is for the general public, one requirement is that at least half of the subjects have less than 12 years of formal education; participation does not require that a person be a linguistic expert, only be a native speaker of Tamil and be able to read the survey.
Subjects also need not have any special medical knowledge (most of the questionnaires have to do with new medicines or evaluate the condition of a person’s health). The only language a person needs to know to participate is Tamil.

( மலேசியாவில் வசிப்பவர்கள் மற்றும் மலேசியாவை பூர்வீகமாக கொண்டிருப்பவர்களாக) இருக்க வேண்டும். அந்த பத்து நபர்களும் பட்டியலில் வைக்கப்படுவார்கள். அந்தப் பட்டியலலிருந்து ஐந்து அல்லது ஆறு நபர்கள் வயது, இனம், இருப்பிடம் மற்றும் முறையான கல்வி தகுதி அடிப்படையில் தேர்ந்தெடுக்கப் படுவார்கள். ஒருவர் இப்பொழுது பங்கெடுக்கவில்லையென்றால் அவருக்கு எதிர்கால திட்டத்தில் பங்கெடுக்க வாய்ப்பு உள்ளது.
எங்களுக்கு வெவ்வேரு வயது வாரியாகவும் ஆண்கள் மற்றும் பெண்கள் கலந்த ஆய்வுக்குரியவர்கள் தேவைப்படுகிறார்கள். குறைந்தது 18 வயதில் உள்ள நபர்கள் தேவைப்படுகிறார்கள்.
இந்த ஆய்வு பொது மக்களால் செய்யும் மதிப்பீடு என்பதால், ஆய்வுக்குரியவர்கள் பாதி பேர் குறைந்தது 12 வருடங்களாவது முறையான கள்வியை பெற்றிருக்க வேண்டும்; பங்கெடுப்பவர் மொழி நிபுணராக இருக்க வேண்டிய அவசியம் இல்லை, தமிழ் மொழியை தாய் மொழியாக கொண்டிருப்பவராக மற்றும் ஆய்வை படிக்க ஆற்றலுடையவராக இருக்க வேண்டும்.
ஆய்வுக்குரியவர்கள் தனிப்பட்ட மருத்துவ சம்பந்தமான அறிவைப் பெற்றவர்களாக இருக்க வேண்டும் என்ற அவசியமில்லை (பெரும்பாலான கருத்தறியும் வினாத்தாட்கள் புதிய மருந்துகளை பற்றி சம்பந்தப்பட்டவை அல்லது ஒருவரின் சுகாதார நிலையை மதிப்பிடுவதாகும்). இதில் பங்கெடுப்பவர்கள் தமிழ் மொழியை தெரிந்திருக்க வேண்டும்.
