Przemiany gospodarcze i społeczne, które zachodzą w naszym kraju od kilkunastu lat, wymuszają wprowadzanie ciągłych i koniecznych zmian w systemie kształcenia młodzieży akademickiej. Globalizacja i wolny dostęp do informacji wyzwalają nowe zadania jakie stawiają sobie młodzi ludzie w dążeniu do celu życiowego. Celem tym jest głównie osiągnięcie sukcesu zawodowego a instrumentem - zdobycie wykształcenia wyższego. Zachodzące zmiany w rozumieniu roli jaką odgrywa szkolnictwo wyższe w kształceniu postaw rynkowych przyszłych absolwentów, wymuszają odejście od dotychczasowego modelu kształcenia opartego na kształceniu kierowanym i przejście do modelu opartego na samokształceniu .
Problem rozwoju przedsiębiorczości jest problemem szeroko dyskutowanym w Polsce. Przedsiębiorczość rozumiana jest jako postawa życiowa wynikająca z inicjatywy i energii ludzi, którzy wierzą we własne siły i nie boją się podejmowania decyzji. Jest ona niezbędna przy prowadzeniu własnej firmy, więc należy ją sobie uświadomić i cały czas ją w sobie rozwijać. W tym upatruje się szczególnej roli instytucji kształcących, które powinny przygotować młodych ludzi do zaistnienia na rynku, do wskazania wielkich szans, ale też zagrożeń związanych z prowadzeniem własnej działalności gospodarczej. Odniesienie sukcesu podczas prowadzenia własnej firmy jest w dużym stopniu skorelowane po pierwsze z wiedzą uzyskaną w trakcie edukacji, a po drugie z doświadczeniem nabytym w praktyce.
Takie ujęcie problemu wskazuje na istotną rolę kształcenia jako pierwszego czynnika warunkującego rozwój przedsiębiorczości. Niezbędne jest więc wypracowanie solidnych metod i standardów nauczania pobudzających myślenie przedsiębiorcze.

Economic and social transformations that our country has been undergoing for several years require necessary and constant modifications in the educational system at university level. Globalization and free access to information trigger the thinking of new tasks that the young approach in the pursuit of their life goals. Mainly, it is professional success that is their life goal, and higher education is the tool in achieving it. The change in perception of the role played by tertiary education in shaping market attitudes of graduates-to-be forces leaving behind the model of directed learning that have been applied so far, and involves implementing the model based on self-learning .
The issue of entrepreneurship development is widely discussed in Poland. Entrepreneurship is defined as an attitude stemming from initiative and energy of these who believe in their strength and are not scared of decision-making. This attitude is vital in running own business, therefore people should become conscious of it and constantly develop it in themselves. Here tertiary education institutions play a particular role, as they ought to make the young ready to enter the market, show them great opportunities, and also make them aware of risks that running own business entails. Succeeding in running own business is strongly related to the knowledge gained in the course of university education, and also to practical experience.
This perspective emphasizes the important role of education as the primary factor conditioning development of entrepreneurship. Therefore, creation of reliable teaching methods and standards is deemed necessary.
