The problem of being awkward with introductions is not, for many, an “unusual situation.” You may find that you are often uncertain about whether to introduce someone using their first name, last name, or both; about whether to use a qualifier (“this is my friend, ______”); even about whether or not it is in fact your responsibility to introduce two people in a given situation. But all of this is small potatoes compared with the seemingly inevitable mingling nightmare of having to introduce someone whose name you have forgotten.
It’s one thing to forget someone’s name if you’ve met them only once or twice, or if you haven’t seen them in a while. But all too often it’s someone whose name you really should know, and who is going to be insulted to find out you don’t. In other words, a faux pas in the making.
This is absolute agony when it happens, and I’ve watched hundreds of minglers try to deal with different ways, ranging from exuberant apology (“Oh GOD, I’m so sorry, JEEZ, wow, I can’t believe I’ve forgotten your name!”) to throwing up their hands and walking away. But there are better ways to deal with this kind of mental slip. Next time you draw a blank while making introductions, try the following ploy:
Force them to introduce themselves. This is the smoothest and most effective way to handle your memory lapse. When it’s done well, no one will ever suspect you. If you have forgotten one person’s name in the group, turn to that person first and smile. Then turn invitingly to a person whose name you do remember and say, “This is Linden Bond,” turning back casually toward the forgotten person. The person whose name you haven’t mentioned yet will automatically (it’s a reflex) say “Nice to meet you, Linden, I’m Sylvia Cooper,” and usually offer a hand to shake. | Translation - Arabic
قد لا يلقي الكثير منا بالاً حينما يتعرض لمشكلة تجعله يظهر بمظهر سخيف عند قيامه بتقديم الأخرين ولا يعير ذلك اهتمامه بل يمر عليه مرور الكرام. وربما تساورك الحيرة عندما تقوم بتقديم شخص ما وتسأل نفسك هل تستخدم اسمه الأول أو الأخير أو تعرفه بكليهما وهل تستخدم صفة للتعريف مثل ("هذا صديقي ،.....) بل وتحتار عندما تتساءل هل يقع على كاهلك مسئولية تعريف شخصين ببعضها البعض في موقف مررت به.ولكن هذا الأمر يعتبر كغثاء السيل إذا ما قارناه بالكابوس الذي لا مفر منه عندما يُفرض عليك تقديم شخص قد نسيت اسمه.
قد تتعرض مرة لنسيان اسم شخص أو أشخاص قابلتهم مرة واحدة أو مرتين أو انقطعت عنهم لمدة معينة. ولكن في كثير من الأحيان تنسى اسم شخص كان يجب عليك أن لا تنساه لأن هذا الشخص سيشعر وكأنك قد أهنته إذا لم تتذكر اسمه. باختصار سوف يكون نسيانك هنا بمثابة خطوة خاطئة في هذا الصدد.
وإذا ما حدث ذلك، فسوف تصبح في موقف عسير. ولقد رأيت بنفسي مئات ممن دخلوا في مثل هذا المواقف يحاولون الخروج منها واستدراك الأمر بطرق شتي تتراوح بين تقديم اعتذار مفعم بالحرارة مثل (يا ألهي! أنا آسف، أوه، لا يمكنني أن أكون قد نسيت أسمك!") وبين أخرين يرفعون أيديهم إلى أعلي ثم يذهبون بعيداً. ولكن هناك طرق أفضل للتعامل مع هذه الزلات القاسية. في المرة القادمة عندما تشعر بأنه قد أسُقط في يدك وأن تفكيرك قد أصابه الشلل أثناء قيامك بعملية تقديم الأشخاص ، حاول الأتي :
أجبرهم على التعريف بأنفسهم. فهذه أسلس وأفضل طريقة لتغطي بها الزلة التي أحرجتك بها خيانة ذاكرتك. ولو قمت بأداء هذا الأمر ببراعة فلن يساور أحد أبداً الشك فيك. ولو نسيت اسم أي أحد أعضاء المجموعة، أستدر أولاً إلى ذلك الشخص وعلى ثغرك ابتسامه موجهة إليه ثم استدر بعد ذلك داعياً شخص تتذكر اسمه وقل مثلاُ " هذا لندن بوند" ومن ثم استدر مرة أخرى تجاه الشخص الذي نسيت اسمه. ستجد أن هذا الشخص الذي لم تذكر اسمه بعد سوف يقوم تلقائيا (رد فعل تلقائي) قائلاً " سعدت بلقاؤك يا لندن ، أسمي سيلفيا كوبر وفي الغالب تجده يمد يده لمصافحتك"

Manifest of the International Coalition against Enforced Disappearances
Enforced disappearance is one of the most serious violations of human rights and it constitutes an international crime.
The disappeared person is deprived of all his or her rights and he or she remains totally defenceless, in the hands of his or her torturers, outside the protection of the law.
Enforced disappearance means by itself the denial of being human.
The practice of enforced disappearance causes severe sufferings to the relatives and to the friends of the disappeared:
the eternal wait for his or her return and the constant uncertainty about the fate and whereabouts of the loved one amount to a form of ongoing torture for mothers, fathers, wives, husbands, partners, sons, daughters, brothers and sisters of the disappeared person.
The wrongful removal of children born during the captivity of a mother subjected to enforced disappearance is a particularly heinous crime, contrary to any basic principle of humanity.
The practice of enforced disappearance violates the fundamental values of humanity and the basic principles of the rule of law and, in general, of international law.
Enforced disappearance challenges the very concept of human rights:
it amounts to the denial of the right of all persons to exist, to have an identity.
Enforced disappearance turns a human being into a non-being.
It is the ultimate corruption, the abuse of power that allows the perpetrators, while committing abominable crimes, to reduce law and order to something insignificant.
Unfortunately, enforced disappearance is not a practice of the past nor it is limited to a few regions of the world.
