Analysis and application of energy saving techniques require accurate knowledge of the building and the parameters that influence its energy consumption. Notice that the lower the building energy consumption is, the more important uncertainties related to energy analysis become. Simulation models are normally based on the building design specifications. However, the actual construction of the building may introduce deviations from the design [3]. These deviations are likely to be unavoidable and are usually acceptable if energy is not considered. However, the reliability of the results from the energy simulation depends on how closely design specifications have been followed.
Due to these uncontrollable design deviations that can occur during the construction, there is degree of inherent uncertainty in the final building performance. At the same time, there are controllable factors that could be prevented. For this reason, simulation tools recommend that the user verify building construction parameters.
Some of the construction factors which can cause uncertainty [4] are the unpredictability of weather, availability of labour, local worker skills and attitudes toward planning, past construction experience, rigidity of objectives, etc. Depending on these factors, construction uncertainty can present varying degrees of complexity.
Studies on construction management [4] [6] [7] emphasize the importance of incorporating uncertainty factors in project-cost, time forecasts and final building quality among other matters, also [4] points out that little attention has been paid to identification and quantification of the specific risks.
Different and complementary approaches based on testing and simulation have been adopted to deal with the problem of uncertainty in energy performance of buildings and building components that arise due to deviations from the design during construction. This is one of the problems overcome by experimental methods such as building monitoring [8], testing in outdoor test cells [9], in-situ measurements [10] and energy labeling procedures [11].
This study proposes and applies an unexplored approach based on sensitivity analysis by simulation [12] [13], which allows for the quantification of the effects of these deviations separately from other possible ones. It also allows for the analysis of the relative influence of different potential deviations on the building energy performance.
The analysis is performed for a case study of a single-zone building at XXX, located in a southern Spanish region. A theoretical model has been developed using the XXX dynamic simulation code, and model outputs were compared with experimental data for both summer and winter for model validation purposes. Design parameters susceptible of variation during construction and their feasible deviations have been identified. Afterwards, annual loads were obtained by simulation for a XXX reference meteorological year and finally, sensitivity analysis methods were used to quantify the impact of the given parameters’ variations on the annual heating and cooling energy consumption, load profiles and peak loads.

El análisis y la aplicación de técnicas de ahorro energético requieren un conocimiento preciso del edificio y de los parámetros que influyen en su consumo energético. Hay que tener en cuenta que cuanto menor es el consumo energético del edificio, más importantes son las incertidumbres en torno a su análisis energético. Los modelos de simulación normalmente se basan en las especificaciones del diseño original del edificio. Sin embargo, el propio proceso de construcción del edificio puede introducir algunas variaciones con respecto a este diseño [3]. Probablemente estas variaciones no puedan evitarse y, por regla general, son admisibles siempre y cuando no se esté analizando el consumo energético. Sin embargo, la fiabilidad de los resultados obtenidos en el análisis mediante simulación energética depende de la rigurosidad con que se hayan seguido las especificaciones del diseño.
Como consecuencia de estas variaciones respecto al diseño original, imposibles de controlar, que pueden tener lugar durante el proceso de construcción, hay cierto grado de incertidumbre inherente al comportamiento final del edificio. Al mismo tiempo hay factores controlables que podrían evitarse. Por esta razón, las herramientas de simulación recomiendan que el usuario verifique los parámetros de construcción del edificio.
Algunos factores propios del proceso de construcción que pueden provocar incertidumbre [4] son la imprevisibilidad del tiempo atmosférico, la disponibilidad de la mano de obra, aptitudes y actitudes del operario de la zona respecto a la planificación, su experiencia anterior en el campo de la construcción, inflexibilidad en los objetivos, etc. Dependiendo de estos factores, las incertidumbres relacionadas con el proceso de construcción pueden presentar varios grados de complejidad.
Los estudios sobre gestión de construcción [4] [6] [7] enfatizan la importancia de incorporar factores de incertidumbre en aspectos tales como la previsión de los plazos y los gastos del proyecto y la calidad final del edificio y también [4] señalan que se ha prestado poca atención a la identificación y cuantificación de los riesgos específicos.
Se han adoptado enfoques distintos y complementarios basados en análisis experimentales y teóricos para abordar el problema de las incertidumbres en cuanto al comportamiento energético en edificios originado por las variaciones respecto al diseño original durante el proceso de construcción. Este es uno de los problemas abordados por métodos experimentales, tales como la monitorización del edificio [8] , experimentos en células de ensayo [9] , mediciones in situ [10] , y procedimientos de calificación energética [11] .
Este estudio propone y aplica un enfoque inexplorado, basado en el análisis de sensibilidad mediante el uso de modelos de simulación [12] [13], que cuantifica los efectos de estas variaciones separándolas de otras posibles. También permite analizar la influencia relativa de diferentes posibles variaciones sobre el comportamiento energético del edificio.
Este análisis se aplica a un caso de estudio de un edificio monozona en XXX, situado en una región al sur de España. Se ha desarrollado un modelo teórico utilizando el código de simulación dinámica XXX, y se compararon los datos obtenidos con datos experimentales para verano e invierno con el objeto de validar dicho modelo. Se han identificado los parámetros del diseño susceptibles de variación durante el proceso de construcción y sus posibles modificaciones. Posteriormente, se obtuvieron cargas anuales mediante simulación para un año meteorológico de referencia de XXX, y por último se utilizaron métodos de análisis de sensibilidad para cuantificar el impacto de las variaciones de los parámetros dados sobre el consumo energético anual de calefacción y aire acondicionado, perfiles de carga y cargas máximas.
