About me
I hold an MA in Translation with Distinction from the University of Surrey, specialising in translating from French into English and German into English. During the course I focused on scientific and business and commercial translation. I successfully translated a variety of texts in these areas during my practical translation classes and also attended lectures on the principles of economics and science & technology. Ultimately, I decided to focus on technical translation and my MA dissertation, which was deemed to be of a commendable professional standard, took the form of an extended translation and commentary in the field of pharmacology on the effect of pharmaceutical products on the autonomic nervous system.

Having worked for the European Union institutions, I have first-hand experience of the functioning of these organisations and of relevant terminology in both French and German. On a personal level, I am very interested in the workings of the European Union and have read widely on the subject.

Since obtaining my first degree in French and German in 1997, I have completed freelance translation projects for friends, acquaintances and business associates on an ad-hoc basis. In 2005 I chose to set up as a full-time freelance translator and am now enjoying immersing myself in foreign languages on a full-time basis.

I have extensive experience of working both in the UK and continental Europe and have worked for Clifford Chance Paris, The European Investment Bank and The European Parliament (both located in Luxembourg), Société Générale Investment Bank and The Union Bank of Switzerland (both in London).

In these roles, I have acquired knowledge of business and legal terminology in both French and German and gained first-hand experience of the workings of the European Union institutions. I have an excellent knowledge of EU terminology in French, German and English.
