We have dealed with more than 200 Malay house cases. Every case was investigated simultaneously in three terms of interior space, houses’ composition, and construction with its form. At first, we knew Malay house is a genotype based on the “Rumah Ibu” (Mother House) by the understanding of spatial function and construction. We went on the study: 1). To group diversified cases into several sub-types, 2). Comparing the sub-types, we could have the ideas of the typological genes which lie in every case and dominate them, 3). To build the interrelations between every sub-types based on the typological genes, 4). The adaptation and the evolution of the house types can be hypothesized and the mutation of house types can be also discussed. | Translation - Chinese
