About me

I am a 50 year old retired Space Forces Lieutenant-Colonel (18 years of service, mostly working on deep space missions).

I have been working as Editor-in-Chief for the computer games magazine "Game World Navigator" since 1998.

My knowledge of English comes from my addiction to English & American literature. When I was transferred from Crimea to Moscow in 1983 I was given the opportunity to read original English books.

Now my collection contains 200+ novels by Louis L'amour, Wilbur Smith, Stephen King, Robert Ludlum, etc.

I also finished a special English course toward receiving Dr. Degree. I never received the actual degree but the course turned to be very helpful.

I started playing computer games back in the IBM PC era. Being in need for additional income I turned to the Biblion LTD publisher with an offer to write gaming solutions. In few months I became leading author of its almanac "Computer Games."

In 1997, Biblion LTD launched the PC gaming magazine “Game World Navigator.”
I landed the position of Senior Editor there. In a year I became Editor-in-Chief.

During the past few years I visited the US (attending the E3 expo in LA & Santa Monica) and the UK (various press trips) several times.

I did my first paid translation in 1991, it was Olivetti manual for a metal treatment furnace.

During 1992-1994, I worked as freelance translator for Moscow's Scientific and Technical Documents Translation Bureau. While there, I translated publications including the manual for CNC milling machine and User Manual for Netware 3.0.

I also did two translations of novels that were published:
* Almarik by Robert E Howard (printed in Around the World magazine)
* The Beast by Alfred Van Vogt (printed in 1994 by Canon Publishing House)

My command of English has improved a bit since 1994. Being Editor-in-Chief, I work with it almost every hour.

I also proofread articles for my magazine.

Usually I can devote weekends and evenings for freelance translator work (excluding deadline week for my mag).
