A Botaş official spokesperson has announced that Azeri gas started flowing through the pipeline from Shahdeniz yesterday morning. The Botaş official, in speaking to Reuters, stated, “The Shahdeniz line has started to function. The gas flow is guaranteed as of this morning, and there aren’t any problems for the time being." A quantity of 1.5 billion cubic metres of gas will be purchased from Azerbaijan from now until the end of the year, targeted to reach 5 billion over the next year. Shahdeniz natural gas will be distributed to Europe via the Turkey-Greece line set to open August 10th, at which time initial gas exports will have been realised. The line is projected to stretch as far as Italy.

Source text - English Christian pilgrimage is rooted in the eastern domain of Christianity, primarily in Palestine, where Jesus was born and accomplished his mission, and secondarily in Egypt, the cradle of Christian monasticism. The fact that Jerusalem became the focal point of Christian pil¬grimage is not surprising. For the Israelites, the Temple in Jerusalem had long served as the locus of the pil¬grimage prescribed by their religious tradition. The meaning of pilgrimage in ancient Israel and in early Christianity is similar yet differs markedly in one point: for the Israelite, a visit to the Temple was a re¬quirement of faith to be fulfilled annually; for the Christian, that requirement had been fulfilled once and for all by Jesus Christ in his own final pilgrimage to the Temple. Therefore, the Christian pilgrimage became a journey to fulfill personal needs of piety rather than collective requirements. Understanding Christian pilgrimage and appreciating forms of Eastern Christian pilgrimage that have persisted for centuries necessitates, nevertheless, an examination of the meaning and form of pilgrimages in the Old Testament as well as in the New Testament. Kartaca Kralı Hannibal, Roma İmparatorluğu ile yaptığı savaşı kaybedince, birlikleriyle beraber Bitinya Kralı I. Prusias'a sığınır. Burada zafer kazanan bir komutan gibi karşılanıp, saygı görür. Prusias, Hannibal'ın önerileriyle bir şehir kurar ve burayı başkent yapar. Bu şehre kendi adı olan Prusias'ı verir. Prusias zamanla Prusa'ya, Türklerin eline geçtikten sonra da Bursa'ya dönüşür. Translation - English Bursa is an “outdoor museum” with its domes, plane trees, minarets and splendid mosque complexes. The history of our city dates from as far as the 7th Century B.C. Lydians, Persians and Bithynians ruled the area respectively. The ancient resources indicate that the founder of today’s Bursa was Prusias I (232 – 192 A.D.), King of Bithynia. When Hannibal, King of Carthage, lost the battle against the Roman Empire, he took refuge behind Prusias I, King of Bithynia, with his troops. Bithynians welcomed Hannibal like a victor and showed respect for him. Prusias founded a city upon Hannibal’s advice and declared it the capital of Bithynia. He named the city with his own that is “Prusias”. The name “Prusias” was transformed into “Prusa” in the course of time, and eventually into “Bursa” after the city was conquered by the Turks. Bursa was a province of The Byzantine Empire when the Turks made it to the area. Kutalmışoğlu Süleyman Şah, Seljuk Ruler, captured Iznik (Nicaea) in 1075. The control of the area shifted several times between the Byzantines and the Turks because of a series of wars fought between the sides. The Ottoman Beylik, one of the beyliks (principalities) that dominated Anatolia following the weakening of The Seljuk State, was the sovereign of the area. The lands of The Ottoman Beylik embraced the districts of Sogut, Bilecik and Domanic. Osman Bey, Son of Ertugrul Bey, added surrounding settlements such as Inegol, Bilecik and Yenisehir to his lands and besieged Iznik. Tekfurs were semiautonomous Byzantine governors affiliated with Istanbul (Constantinople), centre of The Byzantine Empire. The tekfurs of Bursa, Orhaneli, Kestel and Urunlu united their forces and fought against the Ottomans in Koyunhisar, located between Gemlik and Iznik, added the reinforcements dispatched from Istanbul. As Osman Bey defeated the allied forces of tekfurs in the Battle of Koyunhisar, the Ottomans gradually assumed control of Bursa and its vicinity.

Source text - English How the Apartment Queue Works: 1. Sign on to the Apartment Queue You can sign on to the apartment queue from the month you turn 18 years old. You must have a XXX personal ID number or coordination number. The simplest way for you to sign on is at the housing agency’s home page xxx 2. Pay the Annual Fee It costs money to be in the apartment queue. Once you have signed on, we will send you an invoice for your annual fee. In 2008, the fee was XXX. If you do not pay in time, you can not sign up for vacant apartments. If you have not paid after six months, you lose your place in the queue. 3. Actively Look for Apartments Vacant apartments are shown on the housing agency's home page, most often for one week. You must actively look for and show your interest in apartments yourself. Use “My Pages” on our internet service where you can see where you are in the queue for various apartments. You can also call our customer service or visit us to get help. 4. Go to a Showing If you are one of those who have been in the queue longest among those who have registered their interest in an apartment, you can be called to a showing. I am a Turkish native translator with over 9 years experience in a variety of specialty fields. I graduated from the Department of English Language and Literature at Istanbul University, a four-year program providing higher education on the English Language and Literature as well as Translation. I also completed a (non-thesis) master's program in English Teaching and hold an official English Teaching Certificate.

In the course of my professional career, I have never quit working as a freelancer although I had two in-house translating adventures and one as a full-time teacher at a private school. I am currently working as a freelance translator on an extreme full-time basis, which requires me to take translation as a way of living rather than mere profession. Everything in my life is arranged according to my work flow and a holiday is not as holy for me as it could be for someone else.

Specific and remarkable work experience I have had so far include

- localization of Selteco Website into Turkish;

- localization of Selteco's Alligator Flash Designer into Turkish;

- localization of the social networking website FriendFeed into Turkish;

- a fantastic novel translation (published in 2004);

- translation and editing of newspaper clipping reports and summary articles for key players from the banking, telco and power generation industries;

- translation of sophisticated mining equipment manuals and power point presentations;

- translation of hundreds of agreements and contracts from dozens of lines of business;

- translation of JAR OPS/CAP documentation and wet/dry lease (agreements) for the Aviation Industry;

- software and hardware translations for IT and GSM products of leading global companies;

- glossary and dictionary building and revising work for several publishing companies, etc.

My daily output varies between 3000 - 4000 words depending on the complexity of your needs. Test translation requests within reasonable volume limits are accepted. Confidentiality is one of my core business principles and I am happy to sign NDAs whenever required.

As regards technical facilities, I have two desktop PCs, one laptop, an hp officejet all-in-one, ADSL broad-band Internet connection. I can handle, and execute deliveries in, almost all of the common file formats and am capable of using SDL Trados Translator's Workbench and TagEditor as Computer Assisted Translation tools.
