Musée Matisse :The seventeenth-century villa between the excavations and the arena is the Musée Matisse (Wed-Sun: March-Sept 10am-6pm; Oct-Feb 10am-5pm). Matisse spent his winters in Nice from 1916 onwards, staying in hotels on the promenade - from where A Storm at Nice was painted - and then from 1921 to 1938 renting an apartment overlooking place Charles-Félix. It was here that he painted his most sensual, colour-flooded canvases of odalisques posed against exotic draperies. As well as the Mediterranean light, Matisse loved the cosmopolitan aspect of Nice, the Rococo salons of the hotels and the presence of fellow artists Renoir, Bonnard and Picasso in neighbouring towns. He died in Cimiez in November 1954, aged 85. Almost all his last works in Nice were cut-out compositions, with an artistry of line showing how he could wield a pair of scissors with just as much strength and delicacy as a paintbrush.

Matisse Museum: Die Villa aus dem 17. Jahrhunder zwischen den Ausgrabungen und der Arena ist das Musée Matisse (Mittwoch-Sonntag, März-Sept. 10:00 – 18:00 Uhr, Okt. – Feb. 10:00 – 17:00 Uhr) . Seit 1916 verbrachte Matisse die Winter in Nizza in Hotels an der Promenade, von wo aus Ein Sturm in Nizza gemalt wurde. 1921 – 1938 mietete er sich eine Wohnung mit Sicht auf den Charles-Félix Platz.Hier malte er seine sinnlichsten, farbendurchfluteten Ölgemälde, an exotische Staffagen gelehnt. Matisse liebte sowohl das mediterane Licht wie auch das weltmännische Flair von Nizza, die Rokoko Salons in den Hotels und die Anwesenheit von malerkollegen wie Renoir, Bonnard und Picasso in benachbarten Orten. Source text - German 1. KUBANISCHES THEATERTREFFEN IN BERLIN
Mit einem Programm mit 6 verschiedenen Theaterstücken stellt sich das ERSTE KUBANISCHE THEATERTREFFEN vom 25. – 29. Oktober 06 in der Hauptstadt vor.
Es wurde von der kubanischen Schauspielerin Maria Magdalena Gonzalez gemeinsam mit der kubanischen Theatergruppe „La Compañia de Teatro La Edad de Oro de Cuba“, der „La Cueva-Cultura Latina-Berlin“, Raices,e.V.-Verein zur Förderung lateinamerikanischer Kultur in Deutschland und in Zusammenarbeit mit der Werkstatt der Kulturen Berlin und mit der Unterstützung der Regenbogenfabrik und der Regierung der Kanarischen Inseln organisiert.
Die Veranstaltung findet abwechselnd in der Werkstatt der Kulturen, Wissmannstraße 32 – 12049 Berlin und LA CUEVA,Oranienstr. 159-10969 Berlin, statt.
Erstmalig haben sich in der Stadt kubanische Schauspieler, einige hier in der Migration lebend, andere in Cuba sesshaft, alle mit langjähriger professioneller Erfahrung und in ihrem Ursprungsland als Schauspieler erster Kategorie bekannt zusammengetan. Sie wollen in diesem Projekt ihre persönlichen Sichtweisen auf die politische und soziokulturelle Realität ihrer Heimat aufmerksam machen, so wie den Facettenreichtum ihrer Kultur zeigen, der von der afro-kubanischen Religiosität über mythische Personen der Boheme, die Musik bis hin zu tragischen Persönlichkeiten aus dem alltäglichen Leben reicht. Dargestellt werden die verschiedenen Aspekte durch verschiedene Genre wie das Drama, das Melodrama, die Komödie, Tanztheater, Musiktheater und Puppenkindertheater sowie Marionettentheater.
Es ist noch hervorzuheben, daß das Theaterstück DER SCHREI DER LIBELLE in Cuba mit dem ersten Preis der Nationalen Vereinigung der Schriftsteller und Künstler Kubas (Unión Nacional de Escritores y Artistas Cubanos [UNEAC]) in dem Theaterwettbewerb „Rolando Escardó 2004“ ausgezeichnet wurde.
Dieses Stück, geschrieben und dirigiert von Adriana Quesada, Theateregisseurin auf Cuba und dort wohnhaft, wurde erstmalig am 3. September 06 in Cuba uraufgeführt. Maria Magdalena González, kubanische Schauspielerin und in Berlin lebend, reiste extra nach Cuba, um zusammen mit Adriana Quesada das Stück auf die Bühne zu bringen. Im Gegenzug dazu reist Adriana Quesada jetzt erstmalig zu dem 1.Kubanischen Theaterfest von Cuba und nach Berlin, wo dieses Stück zusammen mit einer Ausstellung von Digitalkunst gezeigt wird.

Cueva-Cultura Latina-Berlín, Raíces eV. Asociación para la Investigación y el desarrollo del Arte Latinoamericano en Alemania, en cooperación con la Werkstatt der Kulturen y el apoyo de la Regenbogenfabrik y el Gobierno de Canarias, este
evento tendrá lugar en la Werkstatt der Kulturen, Wissmannstr. 32/ 12049 Berlin
y en La Cueva, Oranienstr. 159/ 10969 Berlin alternativamente.
Por primera vez en esta ciudad, actores cubanos, en la migración unos y
radicados en la Isla otros, todos de larga trayectoria profesional y con un
status de primeros actores en su pais de origen se reunen para ofrecer su
particular visión de la realidad política, social y cultural de su país así como
también mostrar la multiplicidad de matices de su cultura que van desde la
religiosidad afrocubana pasando por los míticos personajes de la bohemia y la
música hasta llegar a los trágicos individuos que pueblan su cotidianidad, todo
expresado en diferentes géneros escénicos como el drama más angustiante, el
melodrama y la comedia, la danza-teatro, el teatro-musical, el teatro para niños
de muñecos y marionetas.
Cabe señalar que una de las obras a presentarse, "EL GRITO DE LA LIBÈLULA"
recibió el Primer Premio de la Unión Nacional de Escritores y Artistas Cubanos
(UNEAC) en el concurso de dramaturgia "Rolando Escardó 2004". Precisamente esta
obra, escrita y dirigida por Adriana Quesada, directora teatral radicada en Cuba
y que por primera vez sale de la Isla especialmente invitada a este evento, se
presentó en calidad de estreno el 3 de setiembre último en Cuba. María Magdalena
González, actriz cubana radicada en Berlín y que interpreta el personaje
principal,viajó especialmente a Cuba para realizar el montaje de la obra que
además viene acompañada de una exposición de arte digital.

Después de la conquista de los españoles en el siglo XVI, ellos colonizaron a Cuba y empezaron a cristianizar forzosamente a los esclavos traidos desde África (sobretodo procedentes de Nigeria y el Congo). Para el fin de la cristianización se les permitió que se organizaran en „cabildos“ y también se les permitía el uso de sus tambores.
En el siglo XVII. la iglesia católica introdujo en las ciudades cubanas las „cofradías“ para así darle aún más intensidad a la adoración a los Santos católicos y así y „sin querer“ se les dió la oportunidad a los esclavos de „esconder“ sus propios Dioses (Orishas) y tradiciones religiosas ( lo único que habían traido de sus tierras) detrás de los Santos católicos.

giones sincretistas y las que más se manifiestan y se practican hoy en dia en Cuba, son:
Regla de Ocha (Santería)
Regla de Congo ( Palo Monte)
Espiritismo
Mientras la posesión en el cristianismo y sobre todo en la iglesia católica se le atribuye al demonio, en la Santería es la „fuente sagrada de la personalidad“ del creyente y está inducido por los tambores sagrados „Batá“, cantos antifonales y el baile en estado de trance.

Nach der Entdeckung und Eroberung im XVI. Jhd. kolonisierten die Spanier Kuba. Die aus Afrika stammenden Sklaven (hauptsächlich aus Nigeria und dem Kongo) wurden gewaltsam christianisiert. Zu dem Zweck der Christianisierung durften sie sich in religiösen „cabildos“ (Ratsversammlungen) organisieren und ihre Trommeln benutzen.
Im 17. Jahrhundert führte die katholische Kirche in den kubanischen Städten „cofradías“ (Brüderschaften) ein, um die katholische Heiligenverehrung noch mehr zu fördern und bot damit „ungewollt“ den Sklaven die Chance, ihre Götter und religiösen Traditionen hinter katholischen Heiligen zu verstecken und zu verheimlichen.
Die so entstandenen synkretistischen Religionen, die auf Kuba heutzutage am meisten praktizierten werden, sind:
Regla de Ocha (Santería)
Regla de Congo (Palo Monte)
Espiritismo (Spiritismus)
Während die Besessenheit im Christentum und insbesondere in der katholischen Kirche dämonisiert wird, ist sie in der Santería die „heilige Quelle der Persönlichkeit“ des Gläubigen und wird durch geweihte Batá-Trommeln (ilú-añá), antiphonalen Gesang und Trancetanz induziert.

La temática de este cortometraje es un sueño y el fracaso del mismo. Conscientemente se cuenta la historia sin diálogos, porque me interesó, cómo poder dar acceso a un tema a través del baile. El baile moderno en muchas ocasiones conlleva un sabor a exclusividad, porque excluye a los expectadores si no son conocedores del género del baile. Quería demostrar, que sí existe otra forma mejor y que a través de los movimientos y la música se puede crear un lenguaje universal, comprensible para todos y en todo el planeta.
Para crear éste lenguaje, el coreógrafo Joaquín La Habana y el compositor Michael Maria Ziffels han hecho un trabajo excelente sin el cual no hubiese sido posible realizar este cortometraje.
Desde mi punto de vista la interpretación de los diferentes caracteres también es un trabajo artístico extraordinario, ya que la dificultad estaba en entrelazar el baile con la actuación, no desarrollar el baile de manera demasiado artificial, sino interpretar los personajes a través del mismo. La dificultad consistió en el hecho que ambos caracteres tenían que ser diferentes y convincentes cada uno en su figura, y esto se logró de una manera sobresaliente.
La acción, los sentimientos y las fantasías de los diferentes caracteres, junto con la cámara móvil, que baila junto con los actores a través del espacio, lleva al expectador a un nivel de sueños, en el que se desarrollan los mundos interiores de los personajes.
Por parte de la cámara y las luces se resfuerza el aspecto del mundo de los sueños a través de la coloración y diferentes filtros cromáticos. Las imágenes van más allá de la vida cotidiana, uniendo contrastes fuertes con colores muy intensos y vivos.
b. Testimonio del Coreógrafo
En éste cortometraje, realizado por Bernhard P. Beutler, la coreografía es uno de los medios estilísticos más importantes para desarrollar la historia. La fascinante música original de Michael Maria Ziffels está llena de ritmos seductores y cante expresivo, realizado por el actor principal. La música es el motor del palpitante diálogo audio-visual de mi coreografía.
Esta une estilos artísticos de movimiento de una variedad de tradiciones de baile de diferentes culturas, que permiten a los dos caracteres, a través de un lenguaje corporal afro- latino muy auténtico y característico, el desarrollo de una elegancia seductora, deseos salvajes y humor erótico.
Translation - English Statement of the Director
This short film is about a dream and about its failing. The story is deliberately told without dialogue because it fascinated me to tell a story through the dance in an intelligible way for all. Modern dance often expels those of the public from understanding who have not devoted much time and thinking to dance theatre yet. I wanted to show that there's a better way, that movement and dance create a universal language that's been understood world-wide.
To create this language, both the choreographer Joaquín La Habana Reyes and the composer Michael Maria Ziffels have contributed exceptional artwork. Without them, this film would not even be imaginable.
The performance of the main actor is a highly valuable artwork in my opinion. The challenge consisted in combining the dance and acting in a way that suits the style of the film. While dancing artfully, it must not be to artificially dance-like but rather playing a role dancing. Both characters had to be distinguishable and believable.
The action, the emotions and the fantasies of the characters, together with the moving camera that's dancing along with them, invites the spectator to a level of dreams in which the inner worlds of the characters can develop.
In terms of cinematography and light, we aimed to support the dream-like aspect by the selection of colours and filters. The visual concept combines high contrast with saturated, bold colours pointing beyond every-day experience, thus being "bigger than life" in the best sense of the words.
b. Statement of the Choreographer
In this short film by Bernhard P. Beutler, the choreography is one of the fundamental means for transmitting the story. The engaging original music by Michael Maria Ziffels is full of seductive rhythms and expressive vocals performed by the principal actor. This music is the motor for the pulsating audio-visual dialogue in my choreography.
Combining artful movement styles from different dance traditions out of cultures all over the world enables the two characters to develop an authentic afro-latin body language of seductive elegance, untamed desire, and erotic humour.
