About me

When you are considering a translator, be sure that he or she has the desire to do professional work for you and to communicate with you about your project. I have a strong work ethic and I am committed to delivering a professional and timely translation to my clients. I never hesitate to ask questions or clarify instructions to ensure that I do the project the way you want it done. I love the Chinese language and I enjoy writing and editing in English, so I am definitely in the right field!

I do freelance translation from Chinese (simplified and traditional) into US English. I have about four years of experience working in-house for the Department of Defense and various contractors doing Chinese-English translation and technical reporting. In November 2006, I started working as a freelance translator and editor. I fell in love with being able to work from home, having more flexibility and still being able to do the translation and editing work I love!

After having studied Chinese in the United States for about eight years, I decided to move to China and continue my formal study of Chinese at Dalian University of Technology in Liaoning Province (Northeast China). I traveled and studied in China for about six months (July 2006-January 2007). I enjoyed different areas of China visiting places from bustling Shanghai and scenic Suzhou to the wilds of Jiuzhaigou and ancient Xi'an, the ice festival in Harbin and, of course, cosmopolitan, oceanside Dalian- just to name a few.

In July and August 2008, I went back to China and had the privilege of seeing the Olympics live, staying and traveling with Chinese friends, visiting new and exotic sites and returning to interesting places from the past.

Continuing education is important to me, so I earned my B.A. in History in 2004 and in my spare time, I am currently furthering my translation studies with a Master's in Liberal Studies with a concentration in Chinese translation.

I accept both large and small Chinese translation and English editing projects on a contract basis. I would love to hear from you! Please email me at: caroline_moreno04@yahoo.com for more information.

I take the confidentiality of my clients very seriously so I don't post samples of projects I have done online, but I volunteer for a news site called Watching America. Please feel free to take a look at some of my translation work there and check out the rest of the site too!
