If, instead of the word 'translation', we use the word 'trans-creation', then 'translators' become 'trans-creators'. The concept of translation as a passive activity fails to understand the dynamic and creative nature of the activity. On one hand, a writer creates a world of fantasy, using imagination and language as tools; on the other, the translator is asked to reproduce this world, and how can he do such thing without analogical imagination and salient language? A translator has to be a writer if his intention is for the readers to enjoy the translation as much as the original, and to make this possible he needs to be an expert in creation.

In general, I always give priority to meaning, then to form, and last to words. This approach acknowledges the naturally independent existences of the source and target language, and does not pretend to create mirrors images of one another but alternative visions. The cornerstone of the process are concepts, for linguistic diversity rarely allows an analogical match between words and expressions belonging to different languages.
