About me
A few years back, when shown the final version of the English translation of the UN speech of a head of state, I found that it could use further improvement.

I am a creative, resourceful, analytical thinker and translator. I can accurately and effectively translate what you express in Chinese into English. At a higher level, I can help you make your message more effective, by expressing your message in a different, more creative way, if so desired. At a still higher, strategic, level, I may point out situations where you may want to exclude, or include certain content, order to reach your goal more effectively. Such additional consultations and services are above and beyond that of a competent or even expert translator. This can be particularly important in the translation of patent claims, legal contracts, advertising copy, political speech, press releases, shareholder reports, sales literature, product instructions, curriculum vitae/resume, etc., where the choice and use of words and their manner of expression can be critical. I like to work on assignments that have huge financial and/or political impact.

The best, true test of my ability is to send me a short paragraph (20-40 words) of what you've translated yourself, or what others have done for you, and see if I can improve on it. If I find it to be good, I'll say so. If I see significant improvement warranted, I'll spend 15 minutes to improve on it before sending it back to you and you can then decide. Any improvement means and shows that I can do a better job. However, you should keep in mind that any improvement is not necessarily my best performance, even though significantly better. As a perfectionist, I can, and often do, dwell on something truly important and keep improving it, if so required or requested. That can take hours or even days.

If, in addition to extremely high translation expertise, the additional, combined qualities of business, legal or/and political acumen is/are important to your objective or purpose, then by all mean give me a try. Due to the high quality work I do and maintain, and my perfectionist attitude, I only accept very few assignments.
