Ο νέος πρόεδρος της Κομισιόν, κ. Μπαρόζο διατηρεί την εμπιστοσύνη του στο σύνολο της Κομισιόν, περιλαμβανομένου και του κ. Μπουτιλιόνε.
Την δήλωση αυτή έκανε η εκπρόσωπος του κ. Μπαρόζο, μετά την απόρριψη από την Επιτροπή Ελευθεριών του Ευρωπαϊκού Κοινοβουλίου, της υποψηφιότητας του Ιταλού Επιτρόπου, λόγω των υπερσυντηρητικών απόψεών του για τους ομοφυλόφιλους και τις γυναίκες. Η κα Αρενκίλντε πρόσθεσε ότι ο κ Μπαρόζο δεν θα αποφασίσει παρά μόνο μετά την συνάντηση που θα έχει με την ηγεσία του Ευρωπαϊκού Κοινοβουλίου στις 21 Οκτωβρίου. Σημειώνεται ότι τόσο οι Σοσιαλιστές όσο και οι Πράσινοι έχουν προειδοποιήσει ότι μπορεί να μην εγκρίνουν την νέα Κομισιόν.

INSTITUTIONAL ISSUES
The new President of the Commission, Mr. Barroso maintains his trust in the entire Commission, including Mr. Buttiglione.
This statement was made by Mr. Barroso’s spokesperson,Ms.Ahrenkilde following the Italian Commissioner’s rejection by the Committee on Citizen’s Freedoms and Rights, due to his highly conservative views on homosexuals and women. Ms. Ahrenkilde added that Mr. Barroso will make a decision only after meeting with political group leaders on October 21st. It is noted that both the Socialists (PSE) and Greens (Verts/ALE)have warned that they may not approve the new Commission.

I was born and raised in Australia, but have been living in Greece for a number of years, where I have established a career in teaching and translations.
I am a Professor of English Language and Literature and have taught in various colleges in Greece and the UK. Apart from English language, I have taught Media Studies, Film Studies, Drama, Poetry and Translation Studies throughout these years. At present, I am teaching in a private tertiary educational institute in Athens.
I also currently work as a freelance translator, mainly focusing on European policy, current events and politics.
I hold the following degrees: BA, Ptychion, MA,PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education) in English Language and Literature. I am currently working on my doctoral thesis which is on women's autobiographical writings across cultures.
I have been translating for a total of eleven years, during which I have delved into several subject areas, such as EU policy and official government documents, journalism, mass media, advertising, poetry and literature and critical theory. Working fields include energy and transport, agriculture, shipping, economics, journalism, among others. I thoroughly enjoy translating and consider it a demanding, yet rewarding job. I strive to be accurate, meticulous and punctual in my work. I am particularly happy about my Proz membership as I believe this contributes significantly to the exchange of ideas and information around the world.
