I'm a native Norwegian, and aside from a 6 month period in Japan as part of my university degree, I've lived most of my life in Norway. When I was 6 years old my parents were seriously considering moving to the US, so I started learning English at the same time as I started learning to read and write Norwegian. Even though they didn't go through with the move, my studies and interest in the language continued, and today I consider it close to native level. I communicate daily with friends in English and my main forms of entertainment such as books, games and movies are all in English. All this means that I don't just translate when dealing with either language - my actual thought processes are in each language. This gives me an intuitive understanding of the words, that allows me to accurately and easily come up with solutions to translation problems in order to effectively communicate their meaning.

My professional background mainly comes from having worked 4 years in the telecommunications industry as a network and test lab administrator. This means that when I'm translating technical materials not only am I your translator, but I'm your quality checker and proof reader as well. There are logical flaws that at first glance may seem fine in the originating language, but will be readily apparent when translated. If there is an error or flaw in the document I will be able to detect it and point it out.

In addition I've worked as a freelance subtitler for several years for ADV Films USA. My duties consisted not only of timing English subtitles to Japanese dialog, but also proofreading and editing. This has given me additional insight into the DVD and television production industry.
