This topic discusses the AS/400 Optimized Server ODBC driver. For details on the RUMBA ODBC Driver, click the RUMBA ODBC Driver Help icon in your RUMBA folder.
RUMBA AS/400 Optimized Server ODBC Driver
The RUMBA AS/400 Optimized Server ODBC Driver connects your ODBC applications to DB2 data sources on AS/400s, giving you transparent, direct access to DB2/400 without the overhead of LAN gateways and server components. You can use the Optimized Server ODBC driver to unlock corporate databases so you can quickly build and execute AS/400 database queries while maintaining the security and integrity of corporate information.
The Optimized Server ODBC driver can be used with any ODBC-compliant Windows application, (such as Visual Basic, or Excel) or any application you may develop.
Note The Optimized ODBC driver is not supported when used with third party applications, such as Access or Excel.
ODBC Trace and RUMBA Trace (APPC)
Located in the RUMBA Administrative Tools group, these two trace utilities can help you to troubleshoot host connection and data retrieval problems:
• The ODBC Trace utility. Records all ODBC function calls submitted by the ODBC application, as well as responses submitted to the ODBC application by the database engine.
• The RUMBA Trace Console. Records all APPC and TCP/IP information, including APPC verbs, and actual data exchanged between the ODBC application and the database. TCP/IP information is recorded under the SNA Communications-APPC configuration option.
Network interfaces
The Optimized Server ODBC driver works with any interface that supports TCP/IP
AS/400 host software
The Optimized Server ODBC driver connects to AS/400 databases and is compatible with OS/400 V3R1 and later.
When using the Optimized Server ODBC driver, the QSERVER subsystem must be active and the Optimized Server database function must be running.
| Translation - French Qu’est que le pilote Optimized Server ODBC ?
Pilote RUMBA AS/400 Optimized Server ODBC
Logiciel hôte AS/400
