RESUMEN
El envejecimiento de la población es uno de los fenómenos que provoca mayor impacto en la sociedad de hoy en día. En Chile en la actualidad se calcula que el 11,4% de los habitantes del país corresponde a adultos mayores, cifra que aumentará significativamente en el futuro.
Vivir más años no es una meta en sí misma, lo fundamental es que los adultos mayores puedan disfrutar de una vejez saludable. Es por ello que los medicamentos constituyen un pilar fundamental en el sistema de salud. El problema es que este mismo acceso a los medicamentos lleva a la existencia de la automedicación, esto inducido principalmente por la falta de cultura hacia los medicamentos, la necesidad de aliviar síntomas y patologías en forma rápida, entre otros factores. Otra alternativa de sanación para los adultos mayores es la medicación basada en plantas medicinales, debido principalmente a fuertes patrones sociales.
El estudio realizado se basó en la información entregada por hombres y mujeres de la tercera edad inscrita en el CESFAM Gil de Castro, siendo su objetivo indagar la realidad de la automedicación alopática en dichas personas, como también el uso de plantas medicinales. Para la evaluación estudio se utilizaron tres instrumentos, dos de los cuales fueron fabricados exclusivamente para este estudio.

SUMMARY
The aging of the population is one of the phenomenon's that arouses most impact in society at present times. In Chile it has been currently calculated that 11,4% of the population belongs to the senior adult group, a number that should grow remarkably in the future.
To live more years is not an aim in itself, what’s important is that the senior citizens can enjoy a healthy old age. That is why medical drugs constitute a basic support for the Health System. The problem is that this approach to drugs conveys the existence of self-prescription, induced mostly by the lack of an education of drug management, and the need to relieve symptoms and pathologies quickly, and other reasons. Another alternative towards health improvement for senior adults is the medication based on medicinal plants, due mostly to strong social patterns.
This study was founded on the information delivered by men and women of the senior adult age enrolled in the “CESFAM Gil de Castro” (family health centre), with a study aim of searching the reality of allopathic self-prescription in these people, as well as their use of medicinal plants. For the evaluation of this study we used three tools, two of them were prepared specially for this research.

Abstract.
The Carlos Anwandter Sanctuary, a RAMSAR site, is situated downstream from the junction of the Rio Cruces and Rio Calle–Calle near Valdivia in Southern Chile. The Rio Cruces was a bicarbonate-rich aquatic ecosystem until January 2004, when a pulp mill began pouring >40 t of sulphate (SO4) and 6 to 9 t of H2SO4 each day into the River. Soon after, black-necked swans, which take refuge in the Sanctuary, began to die and emigrate. Previous studies showed that the food of the birds, the submerged vascular plant Egeria densa, had been eliminated from areas of the Sanctuary affected by the mill’s effluent. Here we describe the cause of this loss of plants and birds. E. densa is a C4 plant that uses calcium bicarbonate to compensate for low concentrations of CO2 in its local environment. Without calcium bicarbonate in the water, the plant photorespires, loses turgor, turns brown and dies. Here we demonstrate that the sulphate and acid dumped into the river by the pulp mill caused an anionic/cationic disequilibrium resulting in the precipitation of both Mg2+ and Ca2+ oxides—as brucite and portlandite—and other metallic (Fe, Al, Cu) oxides which enhanced the concentration of H+, thus perpetuating the ionic disequilibrium. Further, aqueous sulphate under light acidic conditions could precipitate gypsum, thus further removing calcium from the water. An ecologically and statistically significant loss of calcium bicarbonate (ANOVA, p < 0.05) is shown: samples of water affected by the mill’s effluent contained 37% less (HCO3)– than those collected outside the area affected by the effluent. In a microcosm experiment, E. densa samples were exposed to no sulphate (4 replicates: control), 2.5 g l–1 of K2SO4 (4 replicates: Treatment 1), 4.9 g l–1 of K2SO4 (4 replicates: Treatment 2), and 9.8 g l–1 of K2SO4 (4 replicates: Treatment 3). Plants in the control microcosms produced oxygen through photosynthesis at a rate of 0.24 ml O2 g–1 h–1. Plants in Treatment 1 produced oxygen at half the rate of the controls: 0.11 ml O2 g–1 h–1. Plants in Treatment 2 produced oxygen at a rate of 0.003 ml O2 g–1 h–1 or 2 orders of magnitude lower than plants in the control microcosms. After only 8 h of exposure to the experimental conditions of Treatment 3, the plants produced oxygen at a rate of only 0.0001 ml O2 g–1 h–1 or 3 orders of magnitude lower than controls. Differences in oxygen production among the controls and treatments were statistically significant (ANOVA, p < 0.05).

El Santuario de la Naturaleza Carlos Anwandter, un sitio RAMSAR, está ubicado rio abajo de la intersección de los ríos Cruces y Calle-Calle cerca de Valdivia en el sur de Chile. El Río Cruces era un ecosistema acuático rico en bicarbonato hasta Enero del 2004, cuando una planta de celulosa comenzó a verter >40 t de sulfato SO4 y 6 a 9 t de H2SO4 cada día al Río. Poco después, cisnes de cuello negro, que buscan refugio en el santuario, comenzaron a morir y emigrar. Estudios previos han mostrado que el alimento de las aves, la planta vascular sumergida Egeria densa, había sido eliminada de algunas áreas del Santuario, afectada por los efluentes de la planta de celulosa. Aquí describimos la causa de esta pérdida de plantas y aves.
E. densa es una planta C4 que usa calcio bicarbonato para compensar las bajas concentraciones de CO2 en su ambiente inmediato. Sin el calcio bicarbonato en el agua, la planta fotorespira, pierde rigidez, se vuelve café y muere. Aquí demostramos que el sulfato y acido descargados al río por la planta de celulosa causó un desequilibrio aniónico/catiónico resultando en la precipitación de ambos óxidos de Mg2+ y Ca2+, en la forma de brucita y portlandita, y otros óxidos metálicos (Fe, Al, Cu) que intensificaron la concentración de H+, perpetuando así el desequilibrio iónico. Aún más, sulfato acuoso bajo condiciones acidas livianas podía precipitar yeso, aumentando la remoción de calcio del agua. Se muestra una pérdida de bicarbonato cálcico, ecológica y estadísticamente significativas (ANOVA, p < 0.05): muestras de agua, afectada por el efluente de la planta de celulosa, contenía 37% menos HCO3 que aquellas colectadas fuera del área afectada por el efluente. En un experimento en microcosmos, muestras de E. densa fueron expuestas a la ausencia de sulfato (4 réplicas: control), 2.5 gl-1 de K2SO4 (4 réplicas: Tratamiento 1), 4.9 gl- 2 de K2SO4 (4 réplicas: Tratamiento 2), y 9.8 gl–1 de K2SO4 (4 réplicas: Tratamiento 3). Plantas en el microcosmos control produjeron oxígeno por fotosíntesis a una tasa de 0.24 ml O2 g-l h-l. Plantas en Tratamiento 1 produjeron oxígeno a la mitad de la tasa de los controles: 0.11 ml O2 g-l h-l. Plantas en el Tratamiento 2 produjeron oxígeno a una tasa de 0.003 ml O2 g-l h-1 o 2 órdenes de magnitud inferiores a plantas en los microcosmos control. INTRODUCTION
1 PURPOSE OF THE STANDARDS
This document describes the software engineering standards to be applied for all deliverable software implemented for the European Space Agency (ESA), either in house or by industry.
Software is defined in these Standards as the programs, procedures, rules and all associated documentation pertaining to the operation of a computerised system. These Standards are concerned with all oftware aspects of a system, including its interfaces with the computer hardware nd with other components of the system.
Software may be either a subsystem of a more complex system or it may be an independent system.
Where ESA PSS-01-series documents are applicable, and as a consequence ESA PSS-01-21, `Software Product Assurance Requirements for ESA space Systems' is also applicable, Part 2, Chapter 5 of these Standards, Software Quality Assurance', ceases to apply.
2 STRUCTURE OF THE STANDARDS
The ESA Software Engineering Standards are divided into three parts:
Part 1, `Product Standards', contains standards, ecommendations and guidelines concerning the product, i.e. the software to be defined, implemented, operated and maintained.
Part 2, `Procedure Standards', describes the procedures which are used to manage a software project.
Part 3, `Appendices', contains summaries, tables, forms and checklists of mandatory practices.
3 CLASSES OF STANDARD PRACTICES
Three categories of standard practices are used in the ESA Software Engineering Standards: mandatory practices, recommended practices and guidelines.
3.1 Mandatory practices
Sentences containing the word `shall' are mandatory practices. These practices must be followed, without exception, in all software projects. The word `must' is used in statements that repeat a mandatory practice.
3.2 Recommended practices
Sentences containing the word `should' are strongly recommended practices. A justification to the appropriate level in the Agency's hierarchy is needed if they are not followed.

3.3 Guideline practices
Sentences containing the word `may' are guidelines. No justification is required if they are not followed.
4 APPLYING THE STANDARDS
Software projects vary widely in purpose, size, complexity and availability of resources. Software project management should define how the Standards are to be applied in the planning documents (see Part 2). Deciding how standards are to be applied in specific projects is often alled `tailoring'.
4.1 Factors in applying the Standards
A number of factors can influence how the Standards are applied, for example the:
project cost, both in development and operation;
number of people required to develop, operate and maintain the software;
number of potential users of the software;
amount of software that has to be produced;
criticality of the software, as measured by the consequences of its failure;
complexity of the software, as measured by the number of interfaces or a similar metric;
completeness and stability of the user requirements;
risk values included with the user requirements.
Note that two man years or less is a small project, twenty man years or more is a large project.
Software project management should define a life cycle approach and documentation plan that reflects these factors.
Projects which use any commercial software must procure software against stated requirements. Projects are not expected to reproduce design and implementation documentation about commercial software. The maintenance of such software is a responsibility of the supplier.
The procedures for software production may be embedded in the infrastructure of the working environment; once these procedures have been established, repetitive documentation of them is unnecessary. Groups running many projects should ensure that their working practices conform to the ESA Software Engineering Standards. Project documentation should reference these practices.
Large, complex software projects may need to extend these standards. Such projects may need to give more detailed consideration to the procedural and life cycle aspects when there are changing requirements or multiple contractors working in parallel.
4.2 Applying the Standards in a system development
Software developed for ESA is frequently part of a larger system, satellite systems being an obvious example. In this situation a number of activities will already have been performed at `system level' (as part of the system development life cycle) before the life cycle for any software part of the system can commence.
It is a `systems engineering' function to define the overall requirements for the system to be built, often expressed in a System Requirement Document (often referred to as an SRD, but not to be confused with a Software

INTRODUCCIÓN
1 PROPOSITO DE LOS ESTÁNDARES
Este documento describe los estándares de ingeniería de software que se aplicarán a todo software suministrable implementado por la Agencia Espacial Europea (ESA), ya sea de producción propia o de la industria
En estos estándares se define Software como, los programas, procedimientos, reglas y toda la documentación asociada relacionada con la operación de un sistema computarizado. Estos Estándares se ocupan de todos los aspectos relacionados con software de un sistema, incluyendo sus interfaces con los componentes físicos del computador y con otros componentes del sistema.
El software puede ser un subsistema de un sistema más complejo o puede ser un sistema independiente.
Donde sean aplicables los documentos de la serie ESA PSS-01, y en consecuencia también son aplicables los de ESA PSS-01-21, “Requisitos de Control de Calidad del Software para los sistemas espaciales de ESA”, la Parte 2, Capítulo 5 de estos Estándares, Control de Calidad de Software, dejan de ser aplicables.
2 ESTRUCTURA DE LOS ESTÁNDARES
Los Estándares de Ingeniería de Software de la ESA se dividen en tres partes:
Parte 1, “Estándares del Producto”, contiene estándares, recomendaciones y directrices relacionadas con el producto, p.ej. el software a definir, implementar, operar y mantener.
Parte 2, “Estándares de Procedimientos”, describe los procedimientos que se utilizan para administrar un proyecto de software.
Parte3, “Anexos”, contiene resúmenes, tablas, formularios y listas de verificación de prácticas obligatorias.
3 TIPOS DE PRACTICAS ESTÁNDAR
Tres categorías de prácticas estándar son usadas en los Estándares de Ingeniería de Software de la ESA: prácticas obligatorias, prácticas recomendadas y prácticas aceptables.
3.1 Prácticas obligatorias
Oraciones que contienen la palabra “deberá o deberán” son prácticas obligatorias. Estas prácticas deben seguirse, sin excepción, en todos los proyectos de software. La palabra “debe o deben” es utilizada en expresiones que repiten una práctica obligatoria.
3.2 Prácticas recomendadas
Oraciones que contienen la palabra “debería o deberían” son prácticas altamente recomendadas. Se requiere una justificación en el nivel correspondiente dentro de la jerarquía de la Agencia si no son aplicadas.

3.3 Prácticas aceptables
Oraciones que contienen la palabra “puede, pueden, podría o podrían” son prácticas aceptables. No se requiere justificación si no son aplicadas.
4 APLICANDO LOS ESTÁNDARES
Los proyectos de software varían ampliamente en su propósito, tamaño, complejidad y disponibilidad de recursos. La administración del proyecto de software debería definir como se aplicarán los Estándares en los documentos de planificación (ver Parte 2). El decidir como serán aplicados los estándares en los proyectos específicos suele denominarse “aplicación a la medida”.
4.1 Factores al aplicar los estándares
Varios factores pueden influir en la forma como son aplicados los estándares, como por ejemplo:
el costo del proyecto, tanto en su desarrollo como en su operación;
el número de personas requerido para desarrollar, operar y mantener el software;
el número de usuarios potenciales del software;
la cantidad de software que debe ser producida;
los puntos críticos del software, medido por las consecuencias de su colapso;
complejidad del software, medido por el número de interfaces o una métrica similar;
integridad y estabilidad de los requisitos del usuario;
los valores de riesgo comprendido en los requisitos de usuario.
Considere que dos años/hombre o menos es un proyecto pequeño, y veinte años-hombre o más es un proyecto grande.
La administración del proyecto de software debería definir una estrategia de ciclo de vida y un plan de documentación que refleje estos factores.
Los proyectos que utilizan algún software comercial deben obtener software que cumpla los requisitos establecidos. No se espera que los proyectos reproduzcan documentación de diseño e implementación de software comercial. La mantención de dicho software es responsabilidad del proveedor.
Los procedimientos de producción de software pueden ser incluidos en la infraestructura del entorno de trabajo; una vez que estos procedimientos han sido establecidos, no es necesaria la documentación repetitiva de ellos. Los grupos que operan muchos proyectos deberían asegurar que sus prácticas de trabajo cumplen con los Estándares de Ingeniería de Software de ESA. La documentación del proyecto debería mencionar estas prácticas.
Proyectos de software, grandes y complejos, podrían hacer necesario ampliar estos estándares. Tales proyectos podrían necesitar prestarle una consideración más detallada a los aspectos de procedimientos y ciclo vital cuando hay requisitos cambiantes o múltiples contratistas trabajando en paralelo.
4.2 Aplicando los estándares en el desarrollo de un sistema
Los software desarrollados para ESA generalmente son parte de un sistema mayor. Un ejemplo obvio son los sistemas satelitales. En esta situación hay un número de actividades que se habrán ejecutado en el “nivel sistema” (como parte del ciclo de vida de desarrollo del sistema) antes que pueda iniciarse el ciclo de vida de cualquier sección de software del sistema.
Es una función de “ingeniería de sistemas” definir los requisitos generales para el sistema que se va a construir, muchas veces manifestado en un Documento de Requisitos de Sistema (denominado frecuentemente como un DRS, pero no debe confundirse con un Documento de Requisitos de Software). Rather than simply pondering the rather nebulous question of "Am I or am I not in an abusive relationship?" it is often helpful to look at some specific questions that can bring the abuse to light more subtly by getting past the minimizing, rationalizing, and justifying.
Try these for starters:
1. Are you afraid of your partner?
2. Do you sometimes feel like you have to walk on pins and needles to keep your partner from getting angry?
3. Has your partner ever hit, slapped, choked or pushed you?
4. Has your partner ever pulled your hair?
5. Do you ever feel like you deserve to be punished?
6. Do you ever feel like you've done something wrong but you just can't figure out what it is?
7. Have you lost all respect or love for your partner?
8. Is your partner very good to you most of the time -- sometimes downright wonderful, but every once in a while very cruel or scary?
9. Does your partner drive you crazy or make you feel like you're going crazy?
10. Do you find yourself sometimes thinking of ways of killing your partner?
11. Have you believed that your partner would kill you?
12. Have you been told by your partner that he or she would kill you?
13. Has your partner threatened or attempted to commit suicide?
14. Have you thought that suicide would be a good thing for you because everybody would be better off without you or if you'd never been born?
15. Were you abused as a child?
16. Are there significant periods of time in your life that you can't remember?
17. Have you ever done harmful things to yourself like cutting yourself, agreeing to do things you don't like, engaging in reckless or dangerous behavior, etc. because you felt like you should be punished when things have gone badly?
18. Have you been forced by your partner to do something you didn't want to do?
19. Have you lost all or most of your friends since you've been with your partner?
20. Have you put up with something that made you really uncomfortable, or something that you really knew was wrong, because you love your partner?
21. Do you feel isolated, like there's nowhere to turn for help, and that no one would believe you anyway?
22. Have you lost a job because of your partner?
23. Do you have to look back more than a month or two to find anything loving your partner has done for you?
24. Have you ever "frozen" when your partner gave you "the look"?
25. Do you feel emotionally numb?
26. Do you feel like your partner never really listens to you or understands you?
27. Do you feel like you have to say that you're doing okay even when you really aren't?
28. Have you ever left your partner or had your partner leave because of how you were treated, but later returned or allowed your partner to return after promises that it would "all be different."
29. Have you ever pulled back from a relationship with a friend or family member because they voiced concern about how your partner treats you?
30. Are you afraid to tell anybody about what's going on in your life because you don't want your partner to get in trouble or go to jail?
31. Have you ever had sex shortly after a violent episode?
32. Have you ever been in a relationship where you could have answered yes to these questions, but right now you're past all that?
33. Are you certain that you're not being abused because:
o you fight back?
o you've never been hit?
o you've never been hit with a closed fist?
o you've never had to go to the hospital?
o you've never had a broken bone?
o you've seen what "real" abuse is like, and it's worse than this?
o you deserve what you get?
o you give as good as you get?
o nobody ever treated you this well before?
o you're not like "those" people that abuse happens to?
o you're:
male?
educated?
wealthy?
white?
religious?
strong?
34. Do you feel that you are better or smarter than people who are abused?
35. Are you certain that abuse is going to stop because:
o you're going to love your partner so much that he or she will stop abusing you?
o your partner has so much potential, and is going to change?
o your partner is so nice to you when other people are around? or
o your partner comes from a difficult background and is getting better all the time (or is going to start getting better really soon now)?
36. Are you afraid to ask for help because you're afraid that:
o no one will understand?
o people will say that you're:
overly sensitive?
whining?
immature?
making it up?
trying to get attention?
crazy?
trying to get out of your responsibilities?
unfaithful?
lying?
a wimp?
homosexual?
a man/woman hater?
o you deserve to be treated like that?
o you haven't been treated badly enough yet?
o everyone you know will find out how much of a failure you really are?
o you don't want to tear your relationship or marriage or family apart?
37. Do you find yourself agreeing with or giving in to your partner when you don't really agree?
38. Do you know, deep in your heart-of-hearts, that you're abused and just don't know what to do about it?

En vez de pensar en la pregunta, un tanto vaga, de si “¿Estoy o no estoy en una relación abusiva?”, generalmente es orientativo revisar algunas preguntas específicas que pueden desenmascarar el abuso con mayor sutileza, superando la minimización, la racionalización y la justificación.
Comience con estas:
1. ¿Le tiene miedo a su pareja?
2. ¿Siente a veces que debe ser muy cuidadoso(a) para evitar que se enoje?
3. ¿Su pareja lo(a) ha golpeado, empujado o estrangulado?
4. ¿Su pareja le ha tirado el pelo?
5. ¿Alguna vez ha sentido que merece ser castigado(a)?
6. ¿A sentido que ha hecho algo mal pero no se le ocurre que puede ser?
7. ¿Ha perdido el respeto o cariño por su pareja?
8. ¿Es su pareja muy bueno(a) con ud. la mayor parte del tiempo - incluso maravilloso(a), pero cada cierto tiempo muy cruel o temible?
9. ¿Su pareja lo(a) vuelve loco(a) o lo(a) hace sentir que se está volviendo loco(a)?
10. ¿Ha pensado algunas veces en como matar a su pareja?
11. ¿Alguna vez a creído que su pareja lo(a) mataría?
12. ¿Alguna vez su pareja le ha dicho que lo(a) mataría?
13. ¿Su pareja ha a intentado suicidarse o ha amenazado con hacerlo?
14. ¿Alguna vez ha pensado que el suicidio seria bueno para usted, porque todos estarían mejor sin usted, o sería mejor no haber nacido?
15. ¿Fue usted abusado(a) cuando niño(a)?
16. ¿Hay espacios notorios en su vida que no recuerda?
17. ¿Se ha causado daño a si mismo(a), como cortarse, acordar hacer cosas indeseadas, incurrir en conductas peligrosas o imprudentes, porque considera que merece castigo cuando las cosas salen mal?
18. ¿Su pareja lo(a) ha forzado a hacer algo no deseado?
19. ¿Ha perdido todos o la mayoría de sus amigos(as) desde que está con su pareja?
20. ¿Ha tolerado algo que lo(a) ha hecho sentirse muy incomodo(a), o algo que sabía era incorrecto, porque ama a su pareja?
21. ¿Se siente aislado(a), sin tener a quién solicitar ayuda, y que nadie le creería de todas formas?
22. ¿Ha perdido un trabajo debido a su pareja?
23. ¿Debe retroceder más de uno o dos meses para encontrar algo amoroso que su pareja haya hecho por usted?
24. ¿Le ha causado temor su pareja a través de la mirada?
25. ¿Se siente emocionalmente insensible?
26. ¿Siente que su pareja nunca lo(a) escucha o entiende realmente?
27. ¿Siente que debe decir que está bien aunque no lo está?
28. ¿Alguna vez se ha separado de su pareja, o ha logrado que el (ella) se vaya, debido al trato que le dio, y luego reunido tras promesas de que “todo será diferente”?
29. ¿Se ha alejado de una relación de amistad o de un pariente porque éste expresó preocupación por el trato que le da su pareja?
30. ¿Teme contarle a alguien lo que sucede porque no quiere que su pareja tenga problemas o vaya a la cárcel?

- su pareja lo(a) trata tan bien cuando hay otras personas cerca?
- su pareja proviene de un ambiente difícil y está mejorando cada vez más (o ahora va a comenzar a mejorar muy pronto)?
36. ¿Teme pedir ayuda porque:
- nadie entenderá?
- dirán que es hipersensible(a), llorón(a), inmaduro(a), está inventando,
