Heathrow Airport is one of the few places in England you can be sure of seeing a gun. These guns are carried by policemen in short-sleeved shirts and black flak-jackets, alert for terrorists about to blow up Tie-Rack. They are unlikely to confront me directly, but if they do I shall tell them the truth. I shall state my business. I’m planning to stop at Heathrow Airport until I see someone I know. (...)
Astonishingly, I wait for thirty-nine minutes and don’t see one person I know. Not one, and no-one knows me. I’m as anonymous as the drivers with their universal name-cards (some surnames I know), except the drivers are better dressed. Since the kids, whatever I wear looks like pyjamas. Coats, shirts, T-shirts, jeans, suits; like slept-in pyjamas. (...)
I hear myself thinking about all the people I know who have let me down by not leaving early on a Tuesday morning for glamorous European destinations. My former colleagues from the insurance office must still be stuck at their desks, like I always said they would be, when I was stuck there too, wasting my time and unable to settle while Ally moved steadily onward, getting her PhD and her first research fellowship at Reading University, her first promotion.
Our more recent grown-up friends, who have serious jobs and who therefore I half expect to be seeing any moment now, tell me that home-making is a perfectly decent occupation for a man, courageous even, yes, manly to stay at home with the kids. These friends of ours are primarily Ally’s friends. I don’t seem to know anyone anymore, and away from the children and the overhead planes, hearing myself think, I hear the thoughts of a whinger. This is not what I had been hoping to hear.
I start crying, not grimacing or sobbing, just big silent tears rolling down my cheeks. I don’t want anyone I know to see me crying, because I’m not the kind of person who cracks up at Heathrow airport some nothing Tuesday morning. I manage our house impeccably, like a business. It’s a serious job. I have spreadsheets to monitor the hoover-bag situation and colour-coded print-outs about the ethical consequences of nappies. I am not myself this morning. إن مطار هيثرو واحد من الأماكن القليلة في انكلترا التي لا بد أن ترى فيها مسدسا. هذه المسدسات يحملها رجال الشرطة المرتدون قمصانا بأكمام قصيرة وسترات سوداء ضد الرصاص، وهم على أهبة الاستعداد لمواجهة الإرهابيين الذين يحاولون تفجير متجر تاي راك. من المستبعد أن يواجهني رجال الشرطة هؤلاء مباشرة وجها لوجه، ولكن لو واجهوني سأقول لهم الحقيقة، سأوضح لهم مسألتي، سأقول لهم أنني أخطط للبقاء في مطار هيثرو إلى أن أرى شخصا أعرفه (...).

أسمع نفسي أفكر بجميع معارفي الذين خذلوني بسبب عدم مغادرتهم باكرا صباح يوم ثلاثاء ما إلى وجهات أوروبية ساحرة. لا بد أن زملائي القدماء في مكتب التأمين ما زالوا ملتصقين بمكاتبهم تماما مثلما كنت أتوقع لهم، ومثلما كنت ملتصق أنا أيضا، أضيع وقتي ولا أقدر على الاستقرار، بينما كانت آلي تتقدم بثبات حيث حصلت على شهادة الدكتوراه وعلى أول منحة لإجراء البحوث في جامعة ريدينغ والتي كانت أول ترقية لها.
إن أصدقائنا الجدد الذين عرفتهم في مرحلة النضج والذين يعملون في وظائف جدية، ولهذا لا أتوقع رؤيتهم في أي وقت الآن، يقولون لي أن العمل في البيت هو مهنة لائقة تماما بالنسبة للرجل، حتى أن هذا الرجل يكون رجلا شجاعا... نعم، البقاء في المنزل مع الأطفال رجولة بكل معنى الكلمة. غالبية هؤلاء الأصدقاء هم أصدقاء لآلي. يبدو أنني لم أعد أعرف أي أحد، وبعيدا عن الأطفال والطائرات التي تحلق في الأعلى أسمع نفسي أفكر، أسمع أفكار شخص متذمر... ليست هذه هي الأفكار التي كنت أتمنى سماعها.

والعجيب أن الموت المبرمج للخلية يلعب دوراً أساسياً في نظام مناعة الجسم، فلولا وجود برنامج الموت الخلوي لما استطاع الجسم مقاومة الأمراض، حتى إن هذا البرنامج للخلية يقوم بالسيطرة على عمليات الدفاع عن الجسم أثناء الإصابة بالالتهابات المختلفة، حيث يتخلص من الخلايا المعطلة والتي لو استمرت في الحياة لأدت إلى إهلاك الإنسان! كما يقوم بتنشيط الخلايا المسؤولة عن مقاومة الفيروسات والبكتريا الضارة، إذن هو لا يقل أهمية عن البرنامج الذي أودعه الله في الخلايا والمسؤول عن حياتها. | Translation - English
What is amazing is that the programmed cell death plays an essential role in the body immune system; without the cells death program, the body would not be able to fight diseases. This cell program even controls the body defense processes during different infections; it disposes the defective cells that if continued to live would lead to the death of the person! It also activates the cells responsible for fighting viruses and harmful bacteria. EDUCATION OF CHILDREN WITH BLINDNESS / VISUAL DISABILITIES
Educationally significant, non-correctable vision impairments are prevalent in approximately 12.2 students in 1,000 (National Information Center for Children and Youth with Disabilities [NICCYD], 2006). Educators use one of two basic classifications in identifying students who are visually impaired: blind and visually impaired / low vision. Those who are blind may have no light perception or may have some light perception without projection. The low- vision learner is considered severely impaired (even with corrective assistance such as glasses), but is able to read print (often in modified form).
According to Kirk and Gallagher (1986), research on the impact of visual impairments indicates that, for the vast majority of students, (1) intellectual abilities are not markedly affected; (2) the perception of other senses is not substantially different from that of seeing persons; (3) language development is affected only in those areas where the meanings of words are dependent on visual concepts; and (4) self- esteem and self- confidence are not distorted except when a peer group has negatively influenced the individual’s attitude.
ويري كيرك وغالغيرد (1986) أن البحوث عن أثر الإعاقة البصرية وبالنسبة لغالبية الطلاب تشير إلى أنه: (1) لا تتأثر القدرات الفكرية لدرجة كبيرة. (2) لا يختلف إدراك الحواس الأخرى عن الأشخاص البصيرين. من الأمور المهمة في التعليم أنه يوجد حوالي 12.2 طالب من أصل 1000 طالب يعانون من ضعف بصري غير قابل للتصحيح (مركز المعلومات الوطني للأطفال والشباب ذوي الإعاقات، (NICCYD) (2006). ويستخدم التربويون واحداً من أحد التصنيفين الرئيسين في تحديد الطلاب الذين يعانون من إعاقة بصرية: العمى والضعف البصري/ رؤية ضعيفة، حيث يمكن ألا يكون لهؤلاء الطلاب المصابين بالعمى أي إدراك للضوء، ويمكن أن يكون لديهم بعض الإدراك ولكن بدون إسقاط. ويُعتبر المتعلم صاحب الرؤية الضعيفة ذو إعاقة حادة (حتى مع المساعدة التصحيحية مثل النظارات الطبية)، ولكنه يكون قادرا على قراءة المواد المطبوعة (بصيغة معدَّلة عادة).

Employment history:
- I started working in translation in 2004 for Al-Halabi Office in Damascus, Syria. I worked as an in-house translator for 6 months then continued to work for them as a freelance since I was still studying. In this office I translated all kinds of documents, legal, scientific, religious, economic, political, practically everything! I worked for them until the end of 2007 when I got married and moved to Jordan. I think I’ve translated for this office around 500.000 words, if not more over 3 years. (English >< Arabic).
- I also work with Aya Legal Translation in Dubai, UAE on a regular basis, also as a freelance. I mainly translate legal documents (English > Arabic). I started working for this office in April 2007 until now.
- I did a translation project for WorldClass Media from English to Arabic of around 22000 words, subject: general. This was about a year ago.
- I did a transcription and translation project for YZZ Translation; it was 328 minutes and 30452 translated words. Start date: 20/06/2008 and end 16/07/2008.
- I am a certified Professional Translator, certificate obtained from ATN (Arab Translators Network). I am also a member.
