All About Diabetes
Diabetes is a disease in which the body does not produce or properly use insulin. Insulin is a hormone that is needed to convert sugar, starches and other food into energy needed for daily life. The cause of diabetes continues to be a mystery, although both genetics and environmental factors such as obesity and lack of exercise appear to play roles.
There are 20.8 million children and adults in the United States, or 7% of the population, who have diabetes. While an estimated 14.6 million have been diagnosed with diabetes, unfortunately, 6.2 million people (or nearly one-third) are unaware that they have the disease.
In order to determine whether or not a patient has pre-diabetes or diabetes, health care providers conduct a Fasting Plasma Glucose Test (FPG) or an Oral Glucose Tolerance Test (OGTT). Either test can be used to diagnose pre-diabetes or diabetes. The American Diabetes Association recommends the FPG because it is easier, faster, and less expensive to perform.
With the FPG test, a fasting blood glucose level between 100 and 125 mg/dl signals pre-diabetes. A person with a fasting blood glucose level of 126 mg/dl or higher has diabetes.
In the OGTT test, a person's blood glucose level is measured after a fast and two hours after drinking a glucose-rich beverage. If the two-hour blood glucose level is between 140 and 199 mg/dl, the person tested has pre-diabetes. If the two-hour blood glucose level is at 200 mg/dl or higher, the person tested has diabetes.
Major Types of Diabetes
Type 1 diabetes
Results from the body's failure to produce insulin, the hormone that "unlocks" the cells of the body, allowing glucose to enter and fuel them. It is estimated that 5-10% of Americans who are diagnosed with diabetes have type 1 diabetes.
Type 2 diabetes
Results from insulin resistance (a condition in which the body fails to properly use insulin), combined with relative insulin deficiency. Most Americans who are diagnosed with diabetes have type 2 diabetes.
Gestational diabetes
Gestational diabetes affects about 4% of all pregnant women - about 135,000 cases in the United States each year.
Pre-diabetes
Pre-diabetes is a condition that occurs when a person's blood glucose levels are higher than normal but not high enough for a diagnosis of type 2 diabetes. There are 54 million Americans who have pre-diabetes, in addition to the 20.8 million with diabetes.

Buying Chips
All bets on the gaming tables are made with chips. These can be purchased from the dealer at the table you want to play, or from the cash desk. When finished playing, take your chips to the cash desk, where they will be changed back to cash.

Tipping
In casinos it is customary to share your good fortune on the tables by tipping the staff. This is much appreciated in Belgian Casinos. The choice is yours, and we are grateful for any tip you see appropriate to give.
Gaming terms
Paid with even money (1:1): the player wins back the equivalent of the original bet
The ante: an area on the poker table where you place your bet
Qualifying: If the dealer has a hand of an ace and king or better at Blackjack

BLACKJACK
Playing Blackjack is easy!
Place a bet on one or more boxes on the table. The dealer will deal you a hand of two cards, while the dealer receives one. Your objective now is to beat the dealer.
How to Play?
Players take turns around the table to act on their initial two cards. If the total does not exceed 21, one can ask a card or sit on the original two. Picture cards (kings, queens and jacks) all have a value of 10, while an ace is worth either 1 or 11, according to the combination with the other cards in your hand.
More chances
If you have a two card total of 9, 10 or 11, you can double your original bet and you can receive one more card. If your two cards have the same value, you can match your bet and make two hands. If players go over 21, they lose their bet and take no further part in the round of play.
Who Wins?
Once all the players acted on their hands, it is the turn of the dealer. If the total value of the dealer’s hand is 17 or more he/she must stand. In that case, any hand that is higher than the dealer’s, without exceeding 21, wins. Any hand with a lower total loses, while if the total is the same, it is a standoff, neither winning nor losing. If the dealer busts by going over 21, all hands still in play win. You have blackjack if you have an ace and a picture or a 10 value card received on the initial deal.
The Payout
You are paid with even money (1:1) if your total does not exceed 21 and if it is higher than the dealer’s total. If you score Blackjack, the payout will be one and a half times your bet (3:2).
Punto Banco
How to play the easiest casino game?
Players play against the bank and not against each other. A bet is placed on either the player (punto) or the bank (banco). You can also bet on a tie (égalité), where both the bank and the player have the same total. A bet for the tie can be combined with a bet on player or bank if you like.
Where to bet?
There are 7 betting areas for punto and banco, as well as for the tie bet. All the betting areas for either side are the same, so it does not matter which box you bet on, but you can only bet on one box per hand.
Who wins?
The initial deal is two cards for both the player and the bank. The dealer determines if additional cards must be drawn. Fixed rules determine when the dealer can and cannot draw a card.
The winning hand is that closest to 9. When adding the cards together, one always drops the 10 from the front, so the score is always between 0 and 9. For example, if the player’s hand consists of an 8 and a 6, the total is not 14, but 4. Picture cards and 10s have no value.
The payout
All bets are paid even money (1:1), unless the bank wins with a 6, then you get paid half of your original bet. If there is a tie (Égalité), the payout is 8 times your bet.
English Roulette
The most famous casino game!
The roulette table consists of 37 slots, from 0 to 36. The numbers, which are not arranged in arithmetic sequence, alternate between red and black. The zero has a green slot. Simply place your chips on the area or number you hope will win.
How to play?
Roulette has many betting options, and you can bet on as many or few as you like at the same time. The illustration below shows the various bets you can make.
A: Straight up: betting on a single number by placing your chip directly on the number - it pays 35 x your bet
B: Split: betting on 2 numbers by placing your chip on the line between those two numbers - it pays 17 to 1.
C: Street: betting on 3 numbers by placing your chip on a row – it pays 11 x your bet
D: Corner: betting on 4 numbers with one chip - it pays 8 x your bet.
E: Line: betting on 6 numbers with one chip is a 6 line - it pays 5 x your bet.
F: You can bet on columns (the entire row of numbers) - it pays 2 x your bet.
G: You can bet on dozens (the 1st, 2nd and 3rd groups of numbers) – it pays 2 x your bet.
H: You can bet on the outside chances, such as on red or black, or odd or even, or high or low. These bets are paid 1 to 1, or even money.
Zero
Zero is treated just like any other number, and bets on zero have the same odds as the other numbers. But if you are betting on the columns or dozens, all bets lose if 0 is the winning number. And if you are betting on the even chances, then you will lose half your bet if the ball lands on zero.

How to play?
Simply place your bet in the area marked ante, and once everybody has placed their bets, the dealer will deal each player and themselves 5 cards. The dealer will turn their last card face up.
Improve your hand
Check your cards, if you want to keep playing, place another bet equal to twice your ante. For the price of your ante, you can even swap a single card to try and improve your hand.
OR: If your hand is no good, you can fold, and the dealer will collect your cards and ante, and you wait until the next hand.
Who wins?
If the dealer doesn’t have a hand of an ace and king or better (we call it qualifying), he/she will pay every active player’s ante, regardless of the hand’s value, even money (1:1).
If the dealer does qualify, players’ hands are opened and compared to the dealers. Winning bets get paid according to the following table, while the ante is always paid even money (1:1).
Bonus: For only one Euro, you can play the bonus bet also. This is a great way to protect a winning hand if the dealer doesn’t qualify. You lose your bonus bet if you choose to exchange a card. The bonus table is as follows:
Texas Hold-em poker or Ohama poker
How to play?
In Texas Hold-em each player gets two cards face down, called the hole cards. The first betting round is followed by the flop of 3 open cards, dealt by the dealer. Then there is a second betting round. Another card, called the turn, is followed by another betting round. Then the last open card, referred to as the river, is dealt, after which a last round of betting occurs.
How to win?
To stay in the game, all players must contribute the same amount of money to the pot. You can fold your hand if you don’t think that you can win. Your hand is made up of the best five card combination, drawn from your two cards and the five community cards. Look closely, it can be easy to miss sometimes!
What to say?
Don’t let the terms used in the poker room put you off, they are simple and easy to learn.
- To call a bet is to match the bet,
- A raise is when you bet more than the last player,
- A check is when you stay in the game, but don’t bet. If all players check, then you get to see a free card, but as soon as a bet is made, nobody can check that round.
- To fold is to throw your hand down, and quitting that round of play.
There are more expressions related to this game. Feel free to ask the gaming staff for an explanation if you don’t understand something. They are more than happy to help you!
Omaha poker is very similar, but you get 4 cards in the initial deal, and you MUST use two of them to make your hand. The extra cards mean that there are more combinations of hands possible, so look carefully at your hand, you’d hate to throw in a winning hand by mistake!

Een fooi geven
In casino’s is het gebruikelijk het personeel aan de tafel een fooi te geven als het geluk aan uw kant staat. Dit wordt ten zeerste geapprecieerd in Belgische casino’s. Dit is vrijblijvend en wij zijn dankbaar voor elke fooi die gegeven wordt.

BLACKJACK
Blackjack spelen is gemakkelijk!
Plaats uw inzet in één of meer boxen op de tafel. De croupier deelt u een hand bestaande uit twee kaarten, terwijl de croupier er één krijgt. Uw doel is nu de croupier verslaan.
Hoe spelen?
De spelers krijgen om de beurt de kans hun hand te spelen. Als het totaal niet hoger is dan 21 kan de speler een kaart bijvragen of zijn starthand behouden. Figuren (heren, vrouwen en boeren) hebben allemaal de waarde 10, terwijl elke aas een waarde 1 of 11 heeft, afhankelijk van de combinatie met de andere kaarten in uw hand.
Meer kansen
Is de totale waarde van uw 2 kaarten 9,10 of 11, dan kunt u de oorspronkelijke inzet verdubbelen en nog één kaart krijgen. Als uw twee startkaarten dezelfde waarde hebben kunt u deze hand splitsen en plaatst u eenzelfde inzet bij de tweede kaart. Als spelers over 21 gaan, verliezen ze en mogen ze die ronde niet meer meespelen.
Wie wint?
Als alle spelers klaar zijn met spelen is het de beurt aan de croupier. Is de totale waarde van de hand van de croupier 17 of meer, dan moet hij/zij stoppen. In dit geval wint elke hand die hoger is dan die van de croupier, zonder over 21 te gaan. Elke hand met een lager totaal verliest, maar als het totaal gelijk is aan dat van de croupier is het een stand-off (gelijkspel); u wint niet, maar u verliest ook niet. Als de croupier over 21 gaat, winnen alle handen die nog in spel zijn. U hebt blackjack als u een aas en figuur of een kaart met waarde 10 in de eerste ronde toegedeeld krijgt.
De uitbetaling
U wordt uitbetaald met even money (1:1) als uw totaal niet hoger is dan 21, maar wel hoger is dan het totaal van de croupier. Als u blackjack hebt, krijgt u uw inzet 1,5 maal terug (3:2).
Punto Banco
Hoe speelt u het gemakkelijkste casinospel?
Spelers spelen tegen de bank en niet tegen elkaar. Er wordt gewed op de speler (punto) of op de bank (banco). U kunt ook inzetten op een gelijkspel (égalité), waarbij de bank en de speler hetzelfde totaal hebben. Een inzet op het gelijkspel kan, als u dit wenst, gecombineerd worden met een inzet op een speler of op de bank.
Waar inzetten?
Er zijn 7 inzetvakjes voor punto en banco, alsook voor het gelijkspel. Alle inzetvakjes voor gelijk welke kant zijn dezelfde, het doet er dus niet toe op welke box u inzet, maar u kunt per hand slechts op één box inzetten.
Wie wint?
Eerst worden er twee kaarten gedeeld voor de speler en voor de bank. De croupier beslist of er extra kaarten getrokken moeten worden. Vastgestelde regels bepalen wanneer de croupier wel of niet een kaart mag trekken. De winnende hand is deze die het dichtste bij 9 ligt. Als de kaarten opgeteld worden en het totaal dubbele cijfers heeft, wordt er 10 van afgetrokken.
De score ligt dus altijd tussen 0 en 9. Bijvoorbeeld: Als de hand van de speler uit een 8 en 6 bestaat, is het totaal niet 14, maar 4. De 10 en de figuren hebben geen waarde.
De uitbetaling
Elke inzet wordt met even money (1:1) uitbetaald, tenzij de bank wint met een 6, dan krijg u de helft van uw originele inzet terug. Bij gelijkspel (égalité) wint u 8 keer uw inzet.
English Roulette
Het bekendste casinospel!
Het roulettewiel bestaat uit 37 vakjes, gaande van 0 tot 36. De nummers, die niet in rekenkundige volgorde staan, zijn zwart of rood. De nul heeft een groen vakje. Plaats uw fiches op een vakje of een nummer waarop u denkt dat het balletje zal vallen.
Hoe spelen?
Roulette heeft veel inzetopties en u kunt uw fiches tegelijkertijd op zo veel of zo weinig vakjes als u maar wilt inzetten. De afbeelding hieronder toont hoe u kunt inzetten.
A: Straight up: Inzet op één nummer, u plaatst uw fiches op dit ene nummer – u wint 35x uw inzet.
B: Split: Inzet op 2 nummers tegelijk door uw fiches op het lijntje tussen deze twee nummers te plaatsen - u wint 17x uw inzet.
C: Street: Inzet op 3 nummers tegelijk door uw fiches op een rij te plaatsen - u wint 11x uw inzet.
D: Corner: Inzet op 4 nummers tegelijk met één fiche - u wint 8x uw inzet.
E: Line: Inzet op 6 nummers tegelijk met één fiche - u wint 5x uw inzet.
F: Inzet op de getallen van een kolom (een hele rij nummers) - u wint 2x uw inzet.
G: Inzet op de dozijnen (de 1ste, 2de en 3de groep nummers) - u wint 2x uw inzet.
H: U kunt ook op andere vakken inzetten, zoals rood of zwart, of even of oneven, of hoog of laag. Bij deze inzetten wint u 1x uw inzet (even money).
NUL
De nul wordt zoals gelijk welk ander nummer behandeld. Als u op de nul inzet, hebt u evenveel kansen als met de andere nummers. Maar als u op kolommen of dozijnen inzet, verliest u als het winnende nummer 0 is. Als u op een enkelvoudige kans inzet, dan verliest u de helft van uw inzet als de bal op nul landt.

Hoe spelen?
Plaats uw inzet in het speelveld aangeduid met ante en zodra iedereen ingezet heeft, zal de dealer elke speler en ook zichzelf 5 kaarten delen. De dealer zal de laatste kaart met de waarde naar boven delen.
Verbeter uw hand
Bekijk uw kaarten, als u verder wilt spelen, zet u opnieuw fiches in gelijk aan het dubbel van uw ante. Voor de prijs van uw ante, kunt u zelfs een enkele kaart inruilen om uw hand te verbeteren.
OF: als u geen goede hand hebt, kunt u folden. De dealer zal uw kaarten en ante naar zich toeschuiven en u wacht tot de volgende hand.
Wie wint?
Als de dealer geen hand met een aas en koning of beter heeft (we noemen dit kwalificeren), zal hij/zij elke actieve speler de ante terugbetalen (1:1); het doet er niet toe welke waarde de hand heeft. Als de dealer toch kwalificeert, worden de handen van de spelers op tafel gelegd en vergeleken met die van de dealer. Winnende inzetten worden overeenkomstig de volgende tabel uitbetaald, terwijl de ante altijd (1:1) uitbetaald wordt.
Bonus: Voor slechts één euro, kunt u ook de bonusinzet spelen. Dit is een fantastische manier om uw winnende hand te beschermen, mocht de dealer niet kwalificeren. U verliest uw bonusinzet als u ervoor kiest een kaart te wisselen. De bonustabel is de volgende:

Hoe spelen?
Bij Texas Hold-em krijgt elke speler twee kaarten met de waarden naar beneden gedeeld; deze kaarten noemen we de ‘hole cards’. De eerste inzetronde wordt gevolgd door een flop van 3 open kaarten, gedeeld door de dealer. Hierna volgt een tweede inzetronde. Een andere kaart, de turn genaamd, wordt gevolgd door nog een inzetronde. Dan wordt de laatste open kaart, de river, gedeeld, waarna een laatste inzetronde plaatsvindt.
Hoe winnen?
Om in het spel te blijven, moeten alle spelers dezelfde inzet in de pot leggen. U kunt uw hand folden als u denkt dat u niet kunt winnen. Uw hand bestaat uit de beste combinatie van vijf kaarten, te kiezen uit de twee eigen kaarten en de vijf open gemeenschappelijke kaarten. Bekijk uw kaarten goed, het gebeurt soms dat een bepaalde combinatie niet opgemerkt wordt!
Welke termen worden gebruikt?
Laat de termen aan de pokertafel u niet afschrikken, ze zijn simpel en u kunt ze gemakkelijk onder de knie krijgen.
- Als u een bet callt, betekent dit dat u meegaat met de inzet.
- Als u raist, zet u meer in dan de vorige speler.
- Als u checkt, betekent dit dat u nog meespeelt, maar niets inzet. Als alle spelers checken krijgt u een gratis kaart te zien, maar zodra iemand fiches inzet, kan niemand die ronde nog checken.
- Als u fold, gooit u uw hand weg en speelt u die ronde niet meer mee.
Dit spel kent nog meer termen en uitdrukkingen. Vraag ons casinopersoneel gerust om uitleg als u iets niet begrijpt. Zij helpen u met plezier!
Omaha poker is zeer gelijkaardig, maar u krijgt 4 kaarten gedeeld en u MOET twee ervan gebruiken om uw hand te maken. De extra kaarten betekenen dat er meerdere combinaties mogelijk zijn. Bekijk uw hand heel goed, want het is niet fijn om een winnende hand te folden.
Pokerhanden
Welke variant van poker u ook speelt, de handen blijven hetzelfde. Een pokerhand bestaat altijd uit vijf kaarten en ze hebben de volgende waarde:

Voor de reiniging van de tong bevelen wij het gebruik van
