English to Spanish: Identificacion de Lenguas Detailed field: Poetry & Literature
Source text - English ABSTRACT

The identification of the spoken language is the problem to identify the language of the person speaking being based only on a simple sample of voice without considering the speaker or what he is saying. According to this, the automatic identification of the spoken language is the process to use an automatic language identification to identify the language of the speaker from the produced acoustic signal when speaking.
In Mexico 6 of 100 inhabitants (of 5 years and more) speak some indigenous language, which represents the 7.3% of the total population of Mexico. Most of them are indigenous monolinguals, which have the necessity to interact in a world with people speaking other languages. Due to the increasing necessity to create a system of linguistic attendance to indigenous emigrants monolinguals; that require and need immediate attendance that are in the necessity to interact with the authorities, in Mexico or EE.UU., that they do not know their language or origin (for example, medical attention of emergency). On the other hand, the great majority of the 69 indigenous languages in Mexico do not count with a phonetic transcription. The only effort known until now in the identification of a Mexican indigenous language is "What language do you speak" [ http://cdi.gob.mx/ini/lenguahablas/]. In that work, a system helps an operator to identify the language of a speaker, making the monolingual person listen a set of recordings of the different languages (around 39 languages divided in five great groups: Mayan, Oaxaca, Nahuas, North and Center Regions). The resulting action for the speaker is to allow the identification of the language he or she has. Of course, this system has important limitations and, for that reason, the necessity exists to create an automatic language identification of indigenous languages of Mexico. A system that allows its remote use, by means of telephone or a WEB site in Internet extending its reach; besides to allowing the integration of other languages in an efficient and fast form.
