Definitions
Risk management planning
Deciding on how to approach and plan the risk management activities for the project. Although each project should be needed to be evaluated on it own, there are three basic times when a risk assessment should take place, prospecting/targeting phase, pre tender and order delivery phases.
Risk identification
Determining which risks might affect the project and documenting their characteristics. The risk identification system used should have the means to store previous known risks.
Quantitative risk analysis
Measuring the probability and consequences of risks and estimating their implications for project objectives.
Risk response planning
Developing procedures and techniques to enhance opportunities and reduce threats to project objectives.
Risk monitoring and control
Monitoring residual risks, identifying new risks, executing risk reduction plans, and evaluating their effectiveness throughout the project life cycle.
Inductive gross hazard analysis (GHA)
The GHA is a large scope overview of the risks facing a project. It identifies the major vulnerabilities and hazards and then prioritizes those that merit further attention and analysis.
Risk Monitoring and Control Process
1. Inputs
• Risk Management Plan (TEMPER risk management plan). The risk elimination and reduction actions of the risk TEMPER management.
• Actual risk events. Unforeseen events that have a cost impact on the project both positive and negative, e.g., strike, variations, builder or other subcontractor having financial difficulties.
• Additional risk identification. The project manager must have constant vigilance with regard to risks for the project. These risks must be documented and analysed.
2. Tools and techniques
• Quick fixes
In projects unforeseen events will occur and these need to be fixed as and when they appear. The KONE corrective action system (CAS) gives good methods and tools for the resolution of these deviations to the project plan.
• Additional risk response development
The project manager will use the communication between the project team and his or her own expertise to evaluate additional risks to the project or to improve the existing risk responses to know risks.
During the life cycle of the project the project review meetings and the steering group meetings are a forum to review the actions of the project manager and his or her team.
3. Outputs
• Fixes. The actions to mitigate the effect of the unforeseen risks are to be documented and incorporated into the project plan.
• Corrective action system. Some project will have a full CAS whilst others will only have the monthly review meeting within which to handle the deviations to the project plan. In all cases the deviation and the corrective actions are to be documented. If changes are made they are to follow the design change management process.
• Updates to TEMPER risk management plan. All new risks and modifications to the existing risks and their reduction actions are to entered onto the TEMPER tool.
• Communication to stakeholders. The steering group is to be informed of additional risks or events. A predefined level of cost can be set during the planning to trigger the communication.

Monitoraggio dei rischi residui, individuazione di nuovi rischi, esecuzione di piani di riduzione dei rischi e valutazione della loro efficacia lungo l'intero ciclo vitale del progetto.
Inductive gross hazard analysis (GHA – Analisi grandi pericoli)
La GHA è una panoramica ad ampio raggio dei rischi che a un progetto deve affrontare. Essa individua i principali punti deboli e pericoli, poi dà la priorità a quelli che meritano ulteriore attenzione e analisi.
Monitoraggio e controllo dei rischi
1. Input
• Piano di Risk Management (Piano di risk management TEMPER). Azioni di eliminazione e riduzione dei rischi del metodo TEMPER.
• Eventi rischiosi effettivi. Eventi imprevisti che hanno un impatto di costo sul progetto, sia positivo che negativo, ad es. scioperi, variazioni, costruttore o altro subappaltatore in difficoltà economiche.
• Individuazione rischi aggiuntivi Il project manager deve stare continuamente in allerta per quel che riguarda i rischi di progetto. Tali rischi devono essere documentati e analizzati.
2. Strumenti e tecniche
• Interventi veloci
ei progetti si verificano eventi imprevisti, che devono essere affrontati nel momento in cui compaiono. Il sistema di azione correttiva KONE (CAS – corrective action system) offre dei buoni metodi e strumenti per la soluzione di queste deviazioni dal piano di progetto.
• Sviluppo risposte ai rischi aggiuntivi
Il project manager mette in contatto il team di progetto e la propria esperienza per valutare i rischi aggiuntivi del progetto o per migliorare le risposte ai rischi già noti.
Durante il ciclo vitale del progetto, le riunioni di revisione e del gruppo direttivo costituiranno il luogo in cui esaminare le azioni del project manager e del suo team.
3. Output
• Interventi. Le azioni per ridurre l’effetto di rischi imprevisti devono essere documentate e integrate nel piano di progetto.
• Sistema di azione correttiva. Alcuni progetti avranno un CAS completo, mentre altri avranno solo una riunione di revisione mensile in cui gestire le deviazioni dal piano di progetto. In tutti i casi, le deviazioni e le azioni correttive devono essere documentate. Se vengono apportate delle modifiche, queste devono seguire il processo di gestione modifiche di progettazione.
• Aggiornamento del Piano di risk management TEMPER Tutti i nuovi rischi e le modifiche ai rischi esistenti con le rispettive azioni di riduzione devono essere inseriti nel modulo TEMPER.
• Comunicazioni agli stakeholder. Il gruppo direttivo dev’essere informato circa i rischi o gli eventi aggiuntivi. In fase di pianificazione è possibile impostare un livello di costo predefinito che faccia scattare la comunicazione.
