If we want to provide enduring support for combat effectiveness, we must persistently upgrade achievements in innovation. At present, many units stress recognition over application, and some innovations are “retired” after winning awards. Unless they are continuously “reheated”, some achievements will “expire” and ultimately will be shelved. This news reminds us that even if it is an award-winning achievement, with any changes and equipment developments technological inadequacies will still exist, and so timely updates and improvements are necessary. In the innovation process, every unit should abandon desires for personal fame and recognition, make greater efforts in continuous upgrades and improvements, extend the “shelf life” of innovative achievements, and facilitate the sustained growth of combat effectiveness. |

For the past several years I have worked independently as a freelance translator providing Chinese>English translation services in a range of areas, including military technology, information technology, computer technology, business, finance, patents, and others. My clients have been both private and public enterprises located in the United States, the United Kingdom, Europe, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Australia. At present, much of my work centers on translating print media that cover current military, political and social developments in China and Taiwan.
While my ability to perform well as a translator is derived in large part from the linguistic and cultural knowledge I amassed in the classroom, my experiences abroad – and the cultural insights gained therefrom – have equipped me with the practical knowledge that ensures my translations are culturally accurate. I wish to be clear that my interest in China is not limited to its language, but extends to its culture, society, and history as well. Indeed, my interest in the Chinese language is animated by a belief that greater mutual understanding between the U.S. and China will inevitably lead to smoother relations in both the private and public sectors.
As such, I stand ready to provide my clients with high-quality translations in a broad range of fields. My past experience as a network administrator for a biopharmaceutical company gave me valuable hands-on experience and expertise in information and computer technology; consulting for the Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office equipped me with essential knowledge of Taiwanese and Chinese business practices and corporate culture; and my extensive educational background in Asian Studies provides the academic and theoretical underpinnings to bring all of this experience and knowledge together in a way that enables me to provide accurate, culturally sensitive translations.
Please feel free to contact me with any inquiries you may have. I hope to have the opportunity to earn your business.
