I have been translating from Dutch into English since 1990.
Much of my experience has been gained through translating and proof reading for academic institutions, especially for the University of Tilburg where I gained invaluable experience in the translating of legal texts (European law, social law).
Since then my areas of specialisation have developed to include law in general, government and politics and in particular correspondence and documents relating to the EU. I have an extensive glossary at my disposal in this particular field.
Travel and tourism and insurance can also be added to my specialisation through experience gained while working as an in-house translator for the ANWB (Dutch automobilist association), in the Hague.
1985: graduated from the University of Exeter with a BA in social studies (economic and social history), UK
1987-1990: Dutch for beginners and advanced Dutch, University of Tilburg, NL
1990: translation of the book "Introduction to the Social Security Law of the Member States of the European Community", Maklu publishers 1990.
1992: translator's diploma from the Nederlands Instituut voor Opleiding tot Tolk en Vertaler
1990-1992: in-house translator for the ANWB, the Hague

2000> translation work for the Nederlands Migratie Instituut (Dutch Institute for Migration)
