I am a retired journalist who lived for many years in Latin America. I have been translating Portuguese to English since 1962 when I first went to Brazil as a foreign correspondent. My translations of two Brazilian novels in the 1960s-70s for Alfred A. Knopf Inc., New York, won wide critical acclaim. I have worked as a translator (Spanish>English, Portuguese>English) for the Inter-American Press Association. And I have done dozens of free-lance translating and interpreting assignments over the years in a variety of fields (petroleum, law, international business, architecture, etc.) I prefer translation work, but will consider interpreting assignments (Portuguese-English only) in the Knoxville, Tennessee, area. |
