El Jardín es la Diferencia

El filósofo ateo Anthony Flew compuso la siguiente parábola. Dos exploradores se internan en una zona remota, lejos de la civilización, cuando se topan repentinamente con un maravilloso jardín con hileras de flores simétricas y plantas muy bien cuidadas.
Uno de ellos está convencido que debe haber un jardinero cerca de allí, el otro lo niega. Así que deciden armar su campamento y esperar a ver si el jardinero aparece, pero éste nunca llega. El creyente propone la posibilidad de que el jardinero sea invisible. Así que los exploradores rodean el jardín con una valla de alambre electrificado, pero nada ocurre. “Tal vez el jardinero no sólo sea invisible sino también incorpóreo”, dice el creyente, a lo que el escéptico responde: “¿Qué diferencia hay entre un jardinero invisible e intangible y uno imaginario?”
Para él da lo mismo que el jardinero no pueda verse a que sea inexistente. Pero como bien señala el teólogo R. C. Sproul: “La diferencia es el jardín. La presencia de un jardín cuidado, mantenido y cultivado con inteligencia es algo que no podemos encontrar sin un jardinero. El jardín da testimonio tanto de la presencia como del poder del jardinero”.
¿Cómo fue creado el universo? ¿De dónde surgió la vida? ¿Hay algún propósito y significado en todo cuanto existe? Los cristianos respondemos con las primeras palabras del Génesis: “En el principio creó Dios los cielos y la tierra”.
Pero el ateo niega de plano esa posibilidad; él presupone que de alguna manera misteriosa la materia comenzó a evolucionar desde las formas más simples hasta las más complejas en un proceso que duró millones y millones de años y en el que no intervino ninguna razón inteligente; algo puramente casual y accidental.
Y muchos creen que esta es la explicación más racional que tenemos a la mano sobre el origen de la vida; todo lo demás es pura creencia religiosa sin base. Sin embargo, lo cierto es que la teoría de una evolución casual debe ser aceptada por fe como cualquier otro postulado religioso. Nadie puede probar científicamente que el universo se hizo sólo, sin la intervención de un Ser inteligente. L. T. More, paleontólogo de la Universidad de Chicago, dice: “Mientras más estudiamos paleontología, más certeza tenemos de que la evolución descansa en la fe solamente; exactamente la misma clase de fe que es necesario tener cuando consideramos los grandes misterios de la religión”. Y cuán profundamente repercute esta creencia en el hombre. El punto de vista que asumimos respecto al origen del universo determina el sentido que damos a la vida y cómo debe ser vivida. Sin un Creador inteligente la vida no tiene sentido ni una base racional para los valores morales y éticos.
Mientras tanto el jardín sigue allí, como una evidencia muy poderosa de la presencia y capacidad del Jardinero. La vida humana tiene significado porque Dios nos creó con el propósito de que vivamos para Él y conforme a Sus criterios. | Translation - English
The Garden is the Difference

Anthony Flew, the atheist philosopher, composed the following parable: Two
explorers go to a remote territory, far from civilization, when suddenly
they run into a marvelous garden with symmetrical rows of flowers and very
well-tended plants.
One of them is convinced that there has to be a gardener near there, the
other denies it. So they decide to set camp and to wait and see if the
gardener appears, but he never arrives. The believer proposes the
possibility that the gardener is invisible. So the explorers surround the
garden with a fence made of electrified wire, but nothing occurs. "Maybe
the gardener is not only invisible but also spiritual", the believer says,
to what the skeptic responds: "What difference is there between an
invisible, intangible gardener and an imaginary one?"
For him the gardener not being visible is the same as him being
nonexistent. But as theologian R. C. Sproul said very well: "The difference is the
garden. The presence of a cared-for garden, maintained and cultivated
with intelligence is something that we cannot find without a gardener. The
garden gives testimony of not only the presence but also the power of the
gardener".
How was the universe created? From where did life arise? Is there some
purpose and meaning in all that exists? We Christians respond with the
first words of Genesis: "In the beginning God created the heavens and the
earth".
But the atheist denies that possibility outright; he assumes that in some
mysterious way matter began to evolve from the simplest forms to the most
complex in a process that lasted millions and millions of years and in
which no intelligent reasoning intervened; something purely coincidental and
accidental.
And many believe that this is the most rational explanation we have on
hand regarding the origin of life; anything else is pure baseless religious
belief. Nevertheless, the truth is that the theory of a coincidental
evolution must be accepted by faith like any other religious postulate.
Nobody can prove scientifically that the universe created itself, without
the intervention of an intelligent Being. L. T. More, paleontologist at
the University of Chicago, says: "The more we study paleontology, the more
certainty we have that evolution rests on faith alone; the exact same kind
of faith that one must have to consider the huge mysteries of religion".
And how deeply does this belief affect man! The point of view that we
assume regarding the origin of the universe determines the sense that we
give to life and how it should be lived. Without an intelligent Creator
life does not have meaning nor a rational basis for ethical and moral
values.
Meanwhile, the garden is still there, as a very powerful evidence of the
presence and ability of the Gardener. Human life has meaning because God
created us with the purpose that we would live for Him and according to His principles. |

Christianity
I am first and foremost a Christian. I am not a translator who is a Christian, I am a Christian who can translate. I currently do simultaneous interpretation in both directions of my language pair (as need be) for my church and others. I also translate Christian texts.
Law / Legal / Court
I obtained my Federal Court Interpreter Certification in January of 2006 from the Administrative Office of the United States Courts. I interpret regularly at US Federal Court criminal proceedings from arraignment to sentencing, and also provide my services for civil matters, depositions, client visitations, etc.
Aviation
I studied aviation (VFR and IFR) in the Dominican Republic and was instructed in both Spanish and English, and am familiar with both general ICAO rules and FAA guidelines.
Electronics, Technology, Industry
I owned and operated a radio communications shop, where technology (mostly in English) had to be kept up with and communicated to Spanish speaking customers and employees. This led me to expand into establishing IT networks and proprietary software for clients in various industries, serving as a liaison between American product/service providers and Spanish speaking businesses.
Business/Finance
I currently own a small mortgage company that covers all of the state of Florida, and have previously been employed with JPMorganChase and Co., the second largest financial institution in the United States. My business experience in Home Finance affords me a superb grasp of financial terminology in both English and Spanish.
General conversation
I was not simply brought up in a country that speaks one language while in a home that spoke another. The peculiarities of my upbringing had me living in one country for a year while spending the summer in another. Then switching the roles around the next year. This has left me in a condition where I truly have two mother tongues, yet I do not use "Spanglish", since I was always in situations where it had to be one language or the other, never both.
Arts and many more.
There are obviously many other areas in life where one holds an interest, where we are not limited to one particular language. My life has given me opportunities to acquire much knowledge and share it with others in two wonderful languages.
