Deschington Language Services (DLS) is a sole proprietorship offering services such as technical translation, localization, editing, and proof-reading in Norwegian and English. Subject matter covered includes IT, consumer electronics, finance, business, health and safety, medicine and medical equipment, and more. The company is registered and based in Gliwice, Poland.
DLS is run by Thomas Deschington. Thomas is a native Norwegian holding a B.A. in technical translation from Agder University College in Kristiansand, Norway. The four-year degree includes one year at Monterey Institute of International Studies, Monterey, California. Thomas has also lived two years in the UK where he worked at IBM and a rehabilitation center.
Although regular word processing software usually is sufficient, computer assisted translation (CAT) tools are preferred. CAT tools make it possible to reuse previous translations which helps insure consistency and quality throughout projects. A second benefit is lower price for the client as similar sentences do not have to be processed from scratch. Thomas has extensive experience with both Trados and SDLX for handling text documents and tagged documents. For localization of software strings, client-specific tools such as IIDS, Across, and LocStudio are used.
