* Set a good example and be a good role model. Talk about the way we treat others (The Golden Rule).Seldom, if ever, do kids improve without a model.
* Learn about successful people with good character (historical, present, family members etc.) Kids need models to inspire them and mentors to advise them.
* Use examples of poor role models to illustrate a point . Discuss alternative ways the situations could have been handled.
Discuss with your children qualities that make a good leader. This is what the 5th graders think that leadership looks and sounds like:
· Being honest
· Being helpful
· Being organized
· Being organized
· Saying “Let’s talk about it”
· Saying “we have a situation we can solve with leadership”
