Oil rises in Asia as Gustav poised to hit US

Oil rises in Asia on concern Gustav will damage US drilling and refining installations
SINGAPORE (AP) -- Oil prices rose Monday in Asia to near $117 a barrel as Hurricane Gustav advanced on Louisana, prompting companies to shut down drilling and refining operations in the Gulf Coast coast region.
Light, sweet crude for October delivery was up $1.39 at $116.85 a barrel in electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange by midafternoon in Singapore. The contract slipped 13 cents on Friday to settle at $115.46 a barrel.
"There's no question the drilling platforms in the Gulf of Mexico and the big refineries between Houston and New Orleans are in the path of this hurricane," said Victor Shum, an energy analyst with consultancy Purvin & Gertz in Singapore. "There's likely to be some damage. We could see an extended period of disruption."
Oil companies are shutting down productions and evacuating facilities ahead of the storm. Exxon Mobil Corp., Royal Dutch Shell PLC and Valero Energy Corp., North America's largest refiner, were among the companies that said they had shut down Gulf Coast refineries, primarily in south Louisiana.
Altogether, about 2.4 million barrels of refining capacity have been halted, roughly 15 percent of the nation's total, according to figures from Platts, the energy information arm of McGraw-Hill Cos. The U.S. Gulf Coast is home to nearly half the nation's refining capacity.
Australia's BHP Billiton Ltd, which has an interest in eight projects in the Gulf, said Monday it shut down production and evacuated personnel from its operations. Royal Dutch Shell PLC, BP PLC and Transocean Inc. have also evacuated employees from rigs in the Gulf region.
In 2005, Katrina and Hurricane Rita destroyed 109 oil platforms and five drilling rigs.
Forecasters said Gustav was moving faster than expected as it marched toward the coast with top sustained winds of around 115 mph. Early Monday, the National Hurricane Center said Gustav was a Category 3 storm centered about 175 miles southeast of the mouth of the Mississippi River and moving northwest near 17 mph.
About 1.9 million people have left the Louisiana coast region, the largest evacuation in state history, and thousands more had left from Mississippi, Alabama and flood-prone southeast Texas.
The storm has already killed at least 94 people on its path through the Caribbean, and comes three years after Hurricane Katrina killed 1,600, mostly from flooding in New Orleans.
In the U.S., the average retail gasoline price was up slightly to $3.687 a gallon, auto club AAA reported Sunday. The price rose slightly more than a penny Saturday. Gasoline prices peaked on July 17 at $4.114 a gallon.
Keeping prices from rising further are concerns that the credit crisis that began in the U.S. last year has spread to other developed countries and may undermine global demand for crude.
"Worries about an economic slowdown spreading to the euro zone and worries that oil demand growth in emerging markets may slow later this year are creating the current bearish sentiment in the oil market," Shum said.
In other Nymex trading, heating oil futures rose 6.06 cents to $3.2525 a gallon, while gasoline prices gained 6.28 cents to $2.922 a gallon. Natural gas for October delivery fell 11.9 cents to $7.824 per 1,000 cubic feet.
In London, October Brent crude rose $1.42 to $115.47 a barrel.
U.S. trading was closed Monday for Labor Day.

About Acme Content Mediation Platform (ACMP)
ACMP™ is a Java application that is accessed through a Web browser. Acme recommends using Internet Explorer 6.0 and above.
ACMP offers a real-time solution for Mobile Network Operators (MNO) and Mobile Virtual Network Operators (MVNO) to filter and deliver content. ACMP supports real-time rating and billing of content, based on service attributes. Additionally ACMP offers age verification and content classification to protect subscribers from objectionable content.

Single Screen Access
ACMP has been designed to enable the MNO or MVNO to quickly scan the provisioning details of a content provider at a glance and perform the necessary updates quickly and with minimal mouse clicks. This is all possible through an ingenious single interface concept, containing no hidden menus and with minimal pop-up dialog menus.
Each installation of the ACMP will have its own IP address. An administrator will provide the IP address for the installation of ACMP. The ACMP site address can be bookmarked for ease of use.
How ACMP Works
Overview
ACMP Acme Content Mediation Platform provides a robust platform for delivery of content in real-time from content providers to subscribers. It can also integrate with Acme's existing billing system AcmeEclipse™ for the billing of the provided content.
It has the advantage of being web-based using standard browsers so there are no additional deployment issues or costs. ACMP allows all subscriber services and activities, using however many different content providers and types of data, to be instantly synthesised and made available to view in real-time through a single interface.
Principle of operation
Content can be pushed to subscribers by one or more Content Providers. This could be Lotto results or Sports results. Content can also be requested by subscribers. This could be a ring tone or a game.
PULL Request
When a subscriber requests the download of a ring tone or a game for example, this is called a PULL request. When content is requested (PULL) a workflow is initiated in the workflow manager. This workflow will manage all the delivery requirements of the MNO Mobile Network Operator or MVNO Mobile Virtual Network Operators. The steps in a typical PULL workflow would include:
Validate the request
Once validated the request is queued
Validate the requestor as a subscriber and any content classification checked against the subscriber
Rate the content
Bill either within AcmeEclipse™ or with a 3rd party billing system.
Deliver the content to the requestor
Create a Content Rate
1. Choose the appropriate service type, MO - Mobile Originated, MT - Mobile Terminated, DN - Delivery Notification.
2. Enter the relevant A (Action) Keyword in the field. The action keyword details the action for this content rate, typical types could be chat, help, contest or IOD (information on demand). These are the actions associated with the service type.
3. Enter the relevant S (Service) Keyword in the field. A service Keyword will contain values such as "LotteryResults,' or'Donate'and so on are basically the content services offered by a Content Provider.
4. Enter the rate for the selected content type.
5. Choose revenue shared, this value is a percentage share.
6. Select the effective dates that these rates will apply.
7. Priority, enter the priority here. E.g. for a High priority, type high etc.
8. Click OK to save changes and close the active window.

ECG Display
An ECG waveform is always displayed at the top of the display. Depending on the monitor settings, more may be displayed.
An ECG parameter window is also displayed. Your software package and parameter settings determine the information displayed in the window.
The parameter window displays the current heart rate, pacemaker indicators, and the ECG lead with the greatest ST deviation (when ST analysis is on).
The monitor displays alarm limits, but you can choose to turn them off in Monitor Defaults.
Also displayed are a QRS indicator (flashing heart) and a large, flashing asterisk for each detected pacemaker spike (when pacemaker detection is on).
Use the ECG parameter menu to make changes during monitoring.
