혼돈의 시대, 그 시대에 대해서 정의하기란 쉽지 않다. 어떤 예언자는 '언젠가 올 혼돈의 시대'라는 말을 사용하였고, 사가들 중에서는 혼돈의 시대는 아직도 끝나지 않았다고 말하는 자들도 있다. 그러나 가장 좁은 의미로 혼돈의 시대를 정의한다면, 아마도 기란성 공방전에서부터 기란 회합까지를 일컬을 수 있을 것이다.

Summary
The Age of Chaos. To define that era is no simple task. A prophet spoke that the ‘Age of Chaos will eventually dawn upon us,’ while some historians argue that the Age of Chaos has not yet ended. However if the Age of Chaos was to be defined in the narrowest possible sense, it would refer to the period from the Siege of Giran Castle to the Giran Congregation.
This varies from person to person, but I feel that the Age of Chaos was the time when the system of rule became unstable. The power of the royalty and nobility that descended down from Elmoreden became even more convoluted, divisive and chaotic during this Age. This struggle was completely different from the power struggles among the religious sects during the collapse of Elmoreden or the schism between each class guild that occurred in the early days of Aden.
At the beginning of the Age of Chaos, the Siege of Giran Castle was the first time a mere adventurer or lord of a Blood Alliance could achieve royal authority. A large number of adventurers and Blood Alliances sought the power of the castle and cabals appeared to use such ambition to enhance their own strength. The power of the castle bestowed even greater strength to the Blood Alliances. The Blood Alliances would in turn form alliances with other powers, creating a system where their strength would reach unimaginable heights.
Heroes and demonic swords allowed Blood Alliances to free themselves from the cabals. Blood Alliances gathered at first for power, then to the idealism of the cabals who sought to make use of such power, and later they gathered under the banners of heroes or demonic swords. These men distinguished themselves in battles against monsters that seemed to suddenly populate the land. Even Antharas, the tyrant of Giran, and Valakas, Lord of Goddard, had no choice but to back down when facing a Blood Alliance’s flag.
The Blood Alliances sought to replace the existing system of kingship with a new structure of power.
Why was there a power shift from royalty to Blood Alliances? When seen over the long stretch of history, the greatest reason would be that the lavish and extravagant system of royal power no longer suited that era. Royal power no longer had the strength to ensure public safety from the sudden and mass appearance of powerful, gregarious monsters and mass anxiety fostered by the cabals. The Blood Alliances were a military power hired by the royalty and, as always, that military power became independent from its masters.
I, however, feel differently about this. There’s no doubt that these became the catalysts but this alone doesn’t explain the appearance of heroes and demonic swords, or why the ceremony known as the ‘Giran Congregation’ was attended by the elder of each race, or anything about wildly speculated mysterious sixth race. I feel that the powerful creatures, and the refining of ephemeral weapons known to be the crowning achievement of the Giran Congregation, and others all lead in the same unknown direction.
Why did the lady of the blue dress have all the elders of each race gathered? How did adventurers of this Age gain such a foothold with Blood Alliances and mass produced ephemeral weapons? How did the sixth race came to be known under the category of the Human race during this era? All this was a fortification of the human race, adventurers represented by the Blood Alliances.

It seems that there isn’t any terminology for this weapon class yet. I noticed it's simply referred to as a 'Limited Durability Item' so I use ephemeral. It's not the original definition, but it pertains to the weapon’s characteristics.

Section 2 (Definitions): The expressions used within this regulation are defined as follows.
• “Ackerman Steer Angle” means the angle whose tangent is the wheelbase divided by the radius of the turn at a very low speed.
• “Electronic Stability Control System (or ESC System)” means a system that has all of the following attributes from (i) to (v):
(i) That improves vehicle directional stability by at least having the ability to automatically control individually the braking torques of the left and right wheels on each axle or an axle of each axle group (an axle group shall be treated as a single axle and dual wheels shall be treated as a single wheel) to induce a correcting yaw moment based on the evaluation of actual vehicle behaviour in comparison with a determination of vehicle behaviour demanded by the driver;
(ii) That is computer-controlled closed-loop algorithm to limit vehicle oversteer and to limit vehicle understeer based on the evaluation of actual vehicle behaviour in comparison with a determination of vehicle behaviour demanded by the driver;
(iii) That has a means to determine directly the value of vehicle’s yaw rate and to estimate its side slip (or side slip angle) derivative with respect to time.
(iv) That has a means to monitor driver steering inputs; and
(v) That has an algorithm to determine the need, and a means to modify propulsion torque, as necessary, to assist the driver in maintaining control of the vehicle.
• “Oversteer” means a condition in which the vehicle’s yaw rate is greater than the yaw rate that would occur at the vehicle’s speed as result of the Ackerman Steer Angle.
• “Understeer” means a condition in which the vehicle’s yaw rate is less than the yaw rate that would occur at the vehicle’s speed as result of the Ackerman Steer Angle.
• “Sideslip (or side slip angle)” means the arctangent of the ratio of the lateral velocity to the longitudinal velocity of the centre of gravity of the vehicle.
• “Yaw rate” means the rate of change of the vehicle’s heading angle measured in degrees/second of rotation about a vertical axis through the vehicle axis through the vehicle’s centre of gravity.

One of my proudest achievements was when I had the opportunity to found and manage a group of translators towards a common goal; establishing a fan sub organization known as Soldats. Language-wise, I am a Korean-born New Yorker. Thus, I have mother-tongue fluency in both the Korean and English languages. As for Japanese, I have had great personal interest in the language since my youth and I have studied it for nearly a decade long. I optimize in Korean to English translations as well Japanese to English translation.
Although it is true that I have other fields of specialization, I believe that since I have mother-tongue fluency in both languages, even if I encountered slang or jargon that was unfamiliar to me, I would be able to derive its meaning effortlessly.
My daily output for translation would range somewhere between 2000 target words to 3000 target words per day. |
