I have extensively worked in the translation, proofreading, and editing of numerous news and articles during my service years for a national daily newspaper. I have also led an information and education team on a sizable health project that was being implemented to contain the spread of HIV/AIDS in Ethiopia.During this part of my career life, I carried out a number of interpretation duties as well as contributing linguistically to the various conferences and workshops where a lot of report compilation summarizing of discussions was involved.
Prior to my health project work, i worked as an editor and reporter of political affairs (mainly) for the only national daily newspaper , Ethiopian Herald.Alongside this, I monitored and summarised major news from the VOA and Radio Ethiopia for an independent publication widely read by memebers of the diplomatic corps and Un missions and foreign aid agencies in Ethiopia.
I had a major role in the successful and continued publication of the newspaper and the other publication for which I worked on both translation and editing and proofreading capabilities.With the health project where i worked as the Information and Communication officer, I effectively oversaw the publication regularly of a variety of information outlets from posters to flyers , organised a range of seminars and workshops aimed at drawing the public in the wider information campaign. I liased and ensured continuity in a series of weekly radio broadcast on a broad range of sexual health issues. |
