My name is Mrs Lilian Sohlström-Kaustinen. With a professional background in dentistry, I am today a freelancer translator, native in Swedish and I live permanently in Finland. I graduated as a dentist in 1988 and after an almost 20 year long career in dentistry, I started translating from home in January- 2007. I specialize in medicine, dental medicine, pharmaceuticals, biochemistry and microbiology. To this I want to add subjects such as marketing, advertising, tourism, history, literature etc. While my native language is Swedish, I translate and proofread in the following language pairs: EN-SWE, FIN-SWE, GER-SWE, NOR-SWE and DK-SWE.

I am a member of The Finnish Association of Translators and Interpreters (SKTL/FÖTF).

My home office computer equipment includes a PC, two laptops, (all with a DSL high speed connection), a Seagate external hard drive for backup, a fax, a printer and a scanner.

As far as each freelance project I undertake is concerned, I guarantee high quality, proofread translations, delivered right on time and I also guarantee prompt replies to your phone calls and e-mails. MSN Messenger can be used if needed.

Before I start working on a new job I always ask for a PO including VAT-number, fees, deadlines and payment time (30 days max).

I work with both , SDL Trados Studio 2009, SDL Trados 2007 Synergy, SDLX 2007/SDLX Lite and Star Transit 3.0. If you want me to use some other translation tool, please inform me and we will make an agreement.

I clearly state as part of my terms, before accepting a job, that the agency is responsible for a thorough proofreading of my delivered documents, before passing my translated texts on to their clients. This is a part of my fee. If I am asked to get another colleague´s point of view (proofreading), my price will rise and the time of delivery course get prolonged.
My normal fee for translation is 0.10-0.12 Euro/word. (0.16 USD/word) For proofreading/editing I charge 0.05 Euro/word (0.07 USD/word)



Finally I prefer bank transfers or PayPal as paying methods. No foreign checks accepted.
