Specialization / Background

I am looking for translation jobs (English to German) as well as editing and proof-reading jobs (in German) in my areas of expertise (theology, history), my working areas (mathematics, sports, computers and internet, literature) and more general topics.

I hold degrees in mathematics and theology
(mathematics: Diplom from the University of Hannover;
theology: B.A. equivalent from the CBF and postgraduate studies at the University of Marburg).

From 1985 to 1996 I worked as a lecturer at a theological seminary (CBF), after that I was the pastor of a church in Berlin and from 2002 to 2007 I was employed by "Gemeinsam für Berlin", amongst others as a commissioner for intercultural relations.

Throughout my professional career I have worked in English as well as German. Besides contacts and networking with international colleagues in English, travel to other countries as a guest-speaker (in English) and regular experience as an interpreter for English-speaking guests in Germany, I have also translated books and articles from English to German. Of course I am also familiar with the relevant English literature in my area of expertise and because I have specialized in church history I also have a firm background in general history.

Through lectures and speaking engagements I have had the opportunity to perfect my style in German and I have put this to use in working as an editor, ghost-writer and co-author as well as in publishing a number of articles. This has enabled me to develop the necessary skills to translate your English texts into sophisticated and expressive German and to edit and proof-read German texts for you.

In addition to the areas I hold degrees in I am very interested in computers, the internet and sports. Additionally I have a broad basis of general knowledge and I am well-read, so I can also translate texts in the above areas.
