About myself:
Born and raised in HK, I am native in Cantonese, and I can speak very fluent Mandarin. I can use both Traditional and Simplified Chinese to the professional level, and I offer translation services from English into both forms of Chinese, and vice versa.
I have been teaching both Cantonese and Mandarin in the UK since 2004, and currently teaching Chinese A Level, which has a focus on translation. I have very good command in both oral and written English, especially in academic and research writing.
I am qualified as a DPSI (health option) interpreter in 2008. I have received professional interpreting training, and have been working as a community interpreter since Jan 2008. I have also participated in some other interpreting assignments in various subjects, including legal and business interpreting. I am professional and reliable, and always commited to the turnaround time and highest quality of services.
Academically I am trained as a sociologist, and I have very good general knowledge as well as understanding in social and current affairs. I have solid experiences in translating marketing and social researches, company listing reports, brochures for the community, advertisment and press release, HR journals, websites, business presentations, medical records, legal documents, and materials on social and public services. With my knowledge in social science and my experience as academic and social researcher, my area of specialism falls on social science, social policies, public services and local government services, general medical and health, as well as education and pedagogy.
