Aus Freude an Fremdsprachen…
With Barbara as my name, which means “foreigner”, it was fate that I love foreign languages and for this love of mine of foreign languages (i.e. aus Freude an Fremdsprachen)…
… I used to listen to what tourists were saying, trying to understand them, when I was a child;
… I changed my high school when I was 16, leaving a school where I studied “only” English and French for another one where I had the opportunity to learn Latin as well;
… I chose to study foreign languages and literature at University;
… I left my Sardinia and went abroad to learn more and more;
… I now live 60 km from home just so I can hear a dialect which sounds a little bit different from the one spoken by my parents;
… I’m still curious when someone speaks a language which I can’t and ...
…I’m always proud to understand German, English and Spanish and to offer translations of them into Italian for those who don’t know my three studied, learnt, lived and loved foreign languages!
