世界中に感染が広がっている新型インフルエンザ（豚インフルエンザ）について、高齢者の感染者が少ないことが注目を集めている。
「高齢者には何らかの免疫があるかもしれない」と指摘する専門家もいる。
米疾病対策センター（ＣＤＣ）は６日、米国内で感染が確認された６４２人の患者のうち、５８％が１８歳未満の若者だったと発表した。通常の季節性インフルエンザでは、乳幼児や高齢者の感染者が多いだけに、新型インフルエンザでは、なぜ、若者に感染者が集中するのか憶測を呼んでいる。
感染者の最も多いメキシコでも、高齢者の感染者が少ないのは同じで、同国内で最多の治療実績を誇る国立呼吸器疾患研究所付属病院でも、重症で入院する患者の大半が２０～５０歳だった。
世界保健機関（ＷＨＯ）の緊急委員会委員を務める田代真人・国立感染症研究所インフルエンザウイルス研究センター長も、今回の新型インフルエンザで６０歳以上の感染者がほとんどいないことを不思議がる。

It has come to attention that the new strain of influenza (Swine Flu), which is spreading its contagion worldwide, has few infected patients of advanced age.
Some experts have pointed out the possibility that with age may come some sort of immunity.
The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced on the 6th that of the 642 patients in the US confirmed to be infected, 58% were under the age of 18.
While normal seasonal influenza effects mostly infants and the elderly, it is conjectured that the new strain of influenza concentrates on youth.
Mexico, the country with the most infected patients, also has few elderly cases. Additionally, at the National Respiratory Disease Research Centre of Mexico-affiliated hospital (the institution which boasts the highest result of cured cases), the majority of patients hospitalized with severe swine influenza were between 20 and 50 years of age.
Masato Tashiro, a member of the World Health Organization (WHO)’s emergency committee, and chief of the Influenza Research Centre at Japan’s National Institution of Infectious Diseases, also finds it strange that this new strain of influenza has almost no sufferers over 60.
Mr. Tashiro states, “60 to 65 years ago, there was a similar virus which may have provided the elderly with immunity”. 米航空宇宙局（ＮＡＳＡ）は１３１億年前の天体を観測した。人類が見た最も遠い光であり、最古の天体となる。これまでの記録は、国立天文台のすばる望遠鏡（米ハワイ）がとらえた１２９億年前の銀河だった。
とらえられたのは、ガンマ線バーストと呼ばれる星の巨大爆発現象。太陽の数十倍以上の質量を持つ巨大な星が一生を終え、ブラックホールになる時に起きる。

America's National Aeuronautics Space Agency (NASA) has observed astronomical object dating back 13.1 billion years. This is the most distant light which humanity has ever witnessed, and the oldest astronomical object. Until now, this record was held by the 12.9-billion year old galactic images taken by the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan's Subaru Telescope (Hawaii).
The images are of an explosion phenomenon known as a Gamma Ray Burst. It occurs when a gigantic star (over 10 times the weight of our sun) ends its life, becoming a black hole.
NASA's astronomical satellite Swift caught this image at around 5pm on the 23rd of April, when orientated towards the Leo constellation. Using this information as a base, the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan's Okayama Astrophysical Observatory was able to observe the infrared levels straight after the explosion in order to specify when the event took place.
It is thought that this may provide eludication regarding the initial astral bodies which came to being 13.7 billion years ago. 【Junko Adachi】 |
